Technical Details of Allied Telesis 10Gbps LRM SFP+ Transceiver Module

Because precise specifications can vary by production revision and procurement lot, the exact figures for wavelength, reach, power budget, and operating temperature are provided by Allied Telesis in the official specifications for the AT-SP10LRM. This section summarizes the key attributes that are typically included in the product’s specification packet and highlights why the AT-SP10LRM is a solid choice for long-reach 10GbE deployments. For the latest, most accurate numbers, consult the official Allied Telesis datasheet or your vendor’s specification sheet using the product UPC or SKU reference. In practice, you will commonly see the following attributes associated with SFP+ LR/LRM modules, all of which contribute to dependable, scalable network performance:

  • Data rate: 10 Gbps — delivering high-speed Ethernet connectivity for servers, storage, and switch-to-switch links.
  • Form factor: SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) — a compact, hot-swappable transceiver suitable for dense 10G deployments.
  • Standard compliance: SFF-8431 Electrical MSA — ensures compatibility across vendor ecosystems that support SFP+ modules.
  • Digital monitoring interface (DMI): supports five monitoring functions (temperature, VCC, TX optical power, TX laser bias current, RX optical power) for real-time health telemetry and integration with network management tools.
  • Interoperability: designed to work with devices and fiber networks that support SFP+ LR/LRM modules, enabling flexible, vendor-agnostic deployments while aligning with best practices for long-reach 10G links.

How to install Allied Telesis 10Gbps LRM SFP+ Transceiver Module

Installing the AT-SP10LRM is a straightforward, low-risk process when performed with basic precautions and adherence to your device’s maintenance guidelines. Follow these steps to ensure a proper, secure installation and reliable link establishment:

  • Prepare the device and fiber plant: Power down the chassis only if required by your hardware’s hot-swap policy, or confirm hot-swappable compatibility for the target SFP+ slot. Identify the correct SFP+ slot for the module within your switch or router and ensure the fiber network is ready for the transceiver exchange.
  • Remove protective components: If a protective dust cap is fitted, carefully remove it from the transceiver and from the fiber connectors. Inspect connectors for cleanliness and debris; use proper fiber cleaning tools before proceeding.
  • Install the transceiver: Align the AT-SP10LRM with the SFP+ slot, slide it in gently until the latch engages, and ensure the module is seated firmly. Avoid applying lateral force and confirm that the module sits flush with the faceplate to ensure proper electrical contact.
  • Attach fiber cabling: Connect the appropriate LC fiber optic cable to the transceiver, observing correct polarity (Tx/Rx). Use clean connectors and maintain the recommended bend radius to prevent signal loss. If using single-mode or multi-mode fiber, verify compatibility with the LR/LRM operation and ensure the fiber run is within the permitted reach range for the module.
  • Verify operation: Power on the device (if powered down) and verify the link status via the LED indicators or the device management interface. Use your network management system or CLI to monitor the DMI data (temperature, Vcc, TX power, TX bias, RX power) and confirm a stable 10Gbps link with acceptable power budgets.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What is the Allied Telesis AT-SP10LRM?

A: It is a hot-pluggable 10Gbps SFP+ transceiver module designed for long-reach, multi-rate fiber networks and is compliant with the SFF-8431 MSA. It enables flexible, scalable 10G connectivity in data centers and enterprise networks.

  • Q: Is this module interoperable with non-Allied Telesis devices?

A: Yes, as an SFP+ MSA-compliant module, the AT-SP10LRM is generally interoperable with devices that support SFP+ LR/LRM modules. However, interoperability can depend on vendor-specific firmware and compatibility matrices, so it’s best to verify with your device vendor or consult the official compatibility documentation.

  • Q: What digital monitoring features does it support?

A: It supports five digital monitoring functions: temperature, VCC (supply voltage), transmitted optical power, transmitted laser bias current, and received optical power. These metrics enable proactive monitoring and easier fault isolation through compatible management interfaces.

  • Q: Can this transceiver be used for long-distance links?

A: Yes. The LRM designation indicates suitability for longer optical paths within supported fiber types and budgets. Ensure your fiber type, connector, and link budget align with the module’s specifications and your network design requirements.

  • Q: How do I verify a healthy link after installation?

A: Use the switch/router’s management interface or CLI to read DMI values, confirm proper link status on the port, and run basic throughput tests if available. Regularly reviewing temperature, voltage, and Tx/Rx power helps detect issues before they impact performance.

Perfecto Product!!
I rarely write reviews, however on this product I need too. This clearly is a pricey phone mount, but after reading so many reviews I went for it & purchased. After opening, I immediately could see & feel the quality of material used. Installation was surprisingly easy & quick to my Tacoma. The mount is very firm, sturdy, very adjustable, perfectly designed product. For as costly as this was, I have absolutely no regrets! Totally can recommend this product to anyone with a Tacoma within the stated production years. So as so many others have said accurately in reviews, I am beyond satisfied even with the cost in mind.

5 Stars with 1 Call-Out….
SOLID built like a tank! Really like the all-metal design. No vibration on the road and minimal if any off road, extremely stable. 360 adjustability = endless options on positioning your phone. Overall a good buy considering fit, form and functionality as compared to the less expensive composite holders that shake move and rattle (Drives me nuts). The ONLY negative…. I have a pro max iphone with a case and there’s no way one-handed operation works to insert and remove the phone into the holder. You can use one hand to adjust the angle and positioning but not otherwise. An OFI for OffRoam, incorporate a tension adjustment into the design for ease of insertion and removal of the phone (without breaking the bank). Taking all things into consideration the pros far outweigh the cons! Best unit out there for Gen 3 Tacoma owners.

The fit is perfect and is a sold mounting system
Custom fit for 2022 Tacoma, fit exactly. Very sturdy mount and took seconds to install. All metal with the exception of a adjustment knob. Quality hardware. More expensive than a lot of mounts but most are cheap plastic and are not nearly as solid and sturdy as the Offroam.

FINALLY a decent phone mount!!!
I’ve tried about 5 different phone mounts in my 2018 Tacoma and ended up throwing them all away. They’re either too bulky, too weak to hold the phone, awkward or just won’t stay in place. I won’t install a holder that requires adhesive or screws into the dash (or anywhere) in my truck. This holder is the answer. Fits perfectly, doesn’t damage your vehicle. Holds the phone really solidly. This is a very sturdy mount. It’s a bit pricy in comparison to other phone mounts out there. IMO, it’s worth every penny. Materials are far superior to your typical mount, which I’m sure drives up the manufacturing costs. Again, worth every penny. Also, it’s a small business based in the US. Love supporting our small businesses. GREAT MOUNT!!!
