It fits through the hull with the grating on the outside and the male threaded pipe leading inside, usually to a valve to open and close the intake. The scoop grating can be secured to the hull using a screw although it is recommended to use a marine sealant as well. The scoop is also supplied with a back locking nut and washer. Important note: All fittings used for through hull applications must be correctly electrically bonded to ensure protection from electrolytic corrosion. Bronze is highly suitable for below waterline through hull applications.
