Acrylic vs cedar: what's the difference for preservation?
Sealed acrylic maintains humidity inside as effectively as wood — provided the seal is airtight. The integrated humidifier ensures the hygrometric level is maintained between 65 and 72%.
The main difference from Spanish cedar is that acrylic does not passively regulate humidity and does not enrich aromas through terpenes. The CRYSTAL BOWL is therefore ideal for a rotating selection of a few weeks — for long-term aging of several months, a cedar humidor is preferable.
Compatible formats & brands
Distilled water only: refill the humidifier with distilled water — never tap water, which calcifies. Maintain the hygrometer between 65% and 72%. The compact size requires more frequent refilling — check weekly.
Capacity varies by ring gauge: 15 to 20 cigars in standard format. Gordo (60+ ring gauge) reduces capacity to about 12 to 15. Interior height 17 cm — check that your Churchills (178 mm) fit the dimensions.
