LP version. Back to bedroom, to happy accidents and magic errors. I turn the tape. I record over Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett, and in Beck's grave. I take out the drum machine, the flanger, and the acoustic guitar. Caffeine, nicotine. Garbage bags under the eyes, where kids sing swinging. Anxiety of passing time. Pitched boy, reverse woman. Take it as a trip. A colony of ants through the bloodstream. A yogurt pot burst on your hair. Baby whale cum against an obstructed sky. Effervescent, multicolored nails parings. Sun in your mouth. I play according to my own rules. I walk in the footsteps of my home. That's how records catch fire. Guillaume Marietta follows his band The Feeling of Love with his Marietta project. This intimate debut album was recorded solo and hacked in a bedroom on a four-track recorder in 2014. Ten raw, lysergic, melancholic songs, with folk, pop, and psychedelic tones. Mixed with Olivier Demeaux of the band Cheveu. Influences: Syd Barrett, Jonathan Halper, early Beck, Robert Wyatt, Kurt Vile, Cate Le Bon, Bill Callahan, John Lennon, Grover Lewis, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, White Fence, Spectrum, etc.

Just Spectacular
Format: Kindle
I just read seven issues in one sitting and turned to my husband and told him I was sad because I just read an amazing new comic but I finished it and now I have to wait for more. This story is hard to explain, or stick in any particular comic niche. There's hitmen, vampires, ghosts, teenagers performing Sweeney Todd as their school play, apocalyptic dilemmas, addiction, redemption and a talking mole. Just wow. The art is really crisp, colorful and clean. If you liked Middlewest, I think you'll love this. Looking forward to more from these creators.

Great characters, great art, too many loose ends
Format: Paperback
I want to love it; it has great art and realistic characters in a interesting setting, but even by the end of the first volume I was left with nothing but questions. I feel like nothing ever got explained and it took away from the quality of the comic. I'm sure if I continue reading I will get the answers I want, but it feels like the pacing of the story is just a little off. Still a stellar comic.

Can't get past the art
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book blind, knowing nothing about the creators and with no expectations. While I thought the story was interesting and generally well-executed, sometimes the intrusion of the writer's thoughts, the attempts to break the fourth wall, and the wink-wink, nudge-nudge gags at the fans grow tiresome. But the writing is the strength compared to the art, which in my opinion is poor at best. The artist lacks anatomical skills, perspective skills -- the art almost never fills the frame. The splash pages are underwhelming because the figures are so small. Even the parts of the story that are supposed to be "cartoony" (the 5th dimension), which might better fit this artist's abilities, don't work. I really feel this could have been a significantly better product with a different artist.
