artist biography

Esaias Thorén was born November 9, 1901 in Halmstad. He was a Swedish painter, draftsman, print maker and sculptor, and member of the renowned Halmstad group.

Thorén first initially wanted to be a musician, but after seeing a painting by influential Swedish artist Gösta Adrian-Nilsson, he starts painting. In 1923 he meet fellow artist Sven Jonson and formed the group De unga (The Young) with Axel Olson as teacher. In 1924 they exhibited in Halmstad. Thorén then studied at Wilhelmson's painting school in Stockholm in 1925 and a undertook a study trip to Paris with Sven Jonson in 1926. Along with Jonson, they formed Modern reklam (Modern Advertising) in 1927, a combined studio and painting school. In 1929, the Halmstad group is formed. In 1930 he shows in Otto G. Carlsund's exhibition Art Concret in Stockholm. 1931 studies in print making at the Konsthögskolan (Academy of Arts) in Stockholm.

During the 1920s, Thorén's art was influenced by cubism, but like the other members of the Halmstad group, he developed a surrealistic painting during the 1930s. His paintings, with titles such as Bloodbirds (1936) and The Game Has Begun (1938), were often symbolic and dramatic works with allusions to contemporary events in world politics.

During the latter part of his artistry, Thorén partially left the surrealist imagery for a more decorative still life painting style, often with beach finds and fish as characteristic features. Thorén is represented in many public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Norrköping Art Museum and the Kalmar Art Museum.

He passed away on September 23, 1981.

Wonderful
Size: 9 Inch, Color: Red
Just bought my second one for my German shepherd. 1st one I bought a year ago. She managed to pop it within a few days. She still was able to play with it by grabbing ahold of the straps. Takes it everywhere. We call it her tether ball. Should've seen her when we got the new one out of the box. Hasn't left it alone since.

Great for dog self play
Size: 6 Inch, Color: Red, Size: 6 Inch, Color: Red
So much fun for my puppy. Easy to grab and throw for him to play alone. Durable for a medium dog. This is his favorite toy. I also bought one for my friends cattle dog puppy who went bonkers with it. Yet her dog liked to chew the tags off. So I wouldn’t recommend for chewers.

Fun to fetch
Size: 5 Inch, Color: Red, Size: 5 Inch, Color: Red
Perfect size for my 1 yr old Cavapoo that is ball obsessed. This ball is fun to toss around in the yard to exercise and wear out my energetic boy. Perfect for after my work day when I don’t have the energy to match his energy level. He gets to run and chase and I can enjoy his playtime too. Overall the ball is durable and I have confidence it will last for a very long time. We have 2 sizes, small and medium, for my 30 pound athletic pup. He enjoys both equally.
