Description

A Fowl Chain of Events (matte cover)This tale begins when a disaster befalls a guinea fowl who wandered away from her nest, ever so briefly. That's enough information for you to guess what happened. But, the guinea fowl was heartbroken. That set into motion a "fowl chain of events". And, it's also set to rhyme. I love to do that, and I think it makes this story such a fun read. I was introduced to so many guinea fowls while I was in Africa. It was not like I really wanted to meet them.

I was introduced to so many guinea fowls while I was in Africa. It was not like I really wanted to meet them.
Those birds made their presence known very early in the morning. Every morning.

It was my observation that not many people slept in while I was in Africa. People who donÕt have electricity (and I didnÕt while I was a Peace Corps Volunteer), frequently go to bed when it gets dark. ThatÕs what I did. I was very well rested for those two years in Liberia.

However, if you go to bed early, some people are then ready to also get up early in the morning. Not me. I had no desire to get up at five or six oÕclock when it was still dark outside. But, the guinea fowls cried out and the roosters crowed each morning. And then, my neighbors also got up and started their daily activities. Maybe I just didnÕt have good luck with my neighbors? It was my experience that nobody in my neighborhood thought it was important to be quiet so the Peace Corps Volunteer could sleep in a little later.

Honestly, I must admit that I can be very stubborn. In spite of all the noise, I always stayed in bed. I still donÕt like to get up before the sun.

Terrific seasonal book that can be read year-round
Format: Hardcover
I always love a seasonal book that can be read year-round, and much like Sweep, Little Tree is a wonderful fall book that isn’t so fall-themed it can only be read in September and October. A story of change, growing up, and letting go, a story of encouraging friends through words, presence, and patience, Little Tree will please children and adults alike! Ages 5-8.

So simple, yet so emotional.
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book initially because the author/illustrator is from my hometown, and because he is one of the best illustrators on the planet. I thought it would be cute - and it is adorable, but it really hits home. I am a mom who has a young adult child and one teenager. The time is quickly approaching when they will leave the nest and the story of the little tree holding tightly to his leaves just brought me to tears. It is a precious book and fitting for little children and adults alike.

This book is wonderful!!
Format: Hardcover
This book is wonderful!!! It discusses about the fear of letting go and how that can prevent one from growing and moving forward. Even adults can take away meaning from this book. I have bought this for a gift for a couple of friends' childrens and recommended to some teachers. Definitely worth adding to your child's personal library collection or to the classrooms.
