Syringe filters are used in analytical chemistry applications to remove particulate contamination prior to analysis. Filtering a sample prior to sample injection into analytical instrumentation will help protect sensitive parts of the instrument from particulate build-up, reduce system downtime and extend the life of chromatography columns by preventing particulate from blocking the flow path between the column packing.

Pall ion chromatography (IC) Acrodisc syringe filters have been specifically designed and manufactured for IC applications. They feature an optimized Supor membrane that has undergone several extra washing steps ensuring the product has low conductivity detectable extractables.

The syringe filters for ion chromatography applications are certified for low levels of inorganic extractables, with actual background levels of filter extractables for the first 1.5 mL of filtrate that typically are less than 50ppb for nitrate and less than 20 ppb for chloride, phosphate, and sulfate.

13 mm Acrodisc syringe filters are designed for the filtration of sample volumes up to 10 mL. They feature an effective filtration area of 1.0 cm2 and a polypropylene housing which has excellent chemical compatibility properties.

An epic naval history decades in the making
Format: Hardcover
Excellent ending to Dr. Rodger's three book series "A Naval History of Britain", with the same level of detail and interesting presentation of facts I have come to expect from reading other of his works over the years. For anyone interested in a comprehensive naval history of Britain (from which the US Navy inherited much of its tradition), I would highly recommend this series. In addition, "The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy" is also quite a good read. My (incomplete, sadly) collection of Dr. Rodger's works will continue to hold a special place on my naval history shelf for easy reference in the future. I also hope Dr. Rodger's health has improved. The shipper unfortunately did not pack this book well, resulting in minor damage (mostly cosmetic - book is still entirely readable).

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
