One of the most notable actors in Hollywood during the 1930s through the 90s, Jimmy Stewart graced the silver screen for decades, but few may know now that the star of the holiday classic 'It's A Wonderful Life' was also a bomber pilot for the B-24 Liberator during World War II. He became the highest ranking actor in American Military history when he was promoted to brigadier general in 1959. He flew this 'Male Call' B-24 during his service in the war and the plane completed 95 bombing missions for the 453rd Bombardment Group and one of the few B-24s left intact by the end of the war for the group. The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was the most produced heavy bomber and served in every branch of the US military and were active in all theaters of the war.
