In 1623, a fleet from Havana was struck by a storm at the mouth of the Bahama Channel somewhere near the coast of Florida. "The treasure-laden galleon Espiritu Santo el Mayor, 480 tons, Captain Antonio de Soto, opened up and sank so quickly that only 50 of the 300 persons aboard her could be saved by other ships, and all her treasure -- amounting to 1 million pesos, was totally lost."Such catastrophes at sea -- among many described in this book -- have long fueled dreams of finding sunken ships awash in gold doubloons and fabulous jewels, and have tantalized archaeologists with the prospect of recovering valuable historic artifacts. Now a noted marine archaeologist and salvage expert offers a detailed hands-on guide to would-be treasure hunters and explorers of sunken wrecks. Owner of a diving and salvage company, Robert Marx has spent years compiling data on over 28,500 shipwrecks, and has personally located and mapped hundreds of wrecks. He not only tells exactly how to go about locating a sunken vessel and what to do when you've found it but also offers a comprehensive catalog of 4,000 authenticated wrecks and their locations. The book is divided into two parts:
Part I offers a wealth of expert information on the history of salvage; locating shipwrecks; surveying, mapping and excavating a site; identification and dating of shipwrecks and their cargoes; preservation of artifacts, and much more.
Part II comprises a carefully researched guide to every major shipwreck in the Western hemisphere, from the time of Christopher Columbus to about 1825. Descriptive captions on each wreck include year, captain, ports of origin and destination, probable location, cargo, lives lost, and more. These captions amount to a treasure hunter's guided tour of ships waiting to be discovered in the waters of Canada, the United States (including an entire chapter on Florida -- a major location of shipwrecks), the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
In this edition the text is illustrated with 73 fascinating photographs of divers and technicians at work and artifacts of all kinds -- coins, cannons, swords, iron chests, pottery, pewter, anchors, etc., salvaged by the author and his colleagues. You'll also find a selected bibliography and an index.

If pump doesn't seem to work
Size: For 85-300 HP, Size: For 85-300 HP
Hi....I apologize it took me a while to get back to you with my results. Here is what I discovered about the pump and will also apply to some of the other comments I read in the reviews with people not getting the pump to work:
1.) I removed the pump to check the proper direction of the impeller and it was correct as can be seen in the photo.
2.) I built a pump shaft attachement so that I could operate the pump with a power drill.
3.) I attached the water muff to the unit and tried to pump water.....it wouldn't do so. What I did see however was that even at high hose discharge and small leakage at the muff I could not fill the water cavity in the housing.
4.) I installed a strap around the muff and tightened it very tight and THEN at high hose pressure I was able to get the cavity to fill with water.
5.) At that point I activated the drill and was able to get the pump to actually pump water. I then removed the pump housing and removed the O-Ring that resides on top of the impeller, reassembled and it would not pump water. Since the O-Ring sits higher than the original does I wanted to make sure that it was necessary to have it in the pump.
6.) I reassembled the engine and kept the tight strap on the bottom and finally it pumped water into the engine.
My conclusion that you can reply to other buyers if they have a problem:
Do NOT underestimate 2 things....1.)the lack of ability of the pump to draw water up AND 2.)the fact that if the muff leaks it will NOT fill the cavity when common sense says it should. This was a 120hp Johnson. The engine bottom must be immersed fully or the muff must be very tight on the lower unit for the pump to function.
Please feel free to post this if you wish.

Incorrect motor listed. Far smaller impeller than what's in the 6 horse johnson.
Size: For 5.5HP 6HP 7.5HP
It seems to be of good quality. However it does not fit a 6 horse johnson as it states. Therefore it will not pump water or function for my purposes. It was a waste of money.
