Cherry on TopIt is only recently that I have been inspired to paint trees. Now almost every time I go out and look at a tree or a landscape I see a new artwork I want to paint. It is like having new eyes or putting on glasses for the first time. The everyday, the ordinary stuff you just walk past, the things you see but you are not really look at, this is now capturing my imagination and inspiring me. It is only recently that I have been inspired to paint trees. Now almost every time I go out and look at a tree or a landscape I see a new artwork I want to paint.

It is like having new eyes or putting on glasses for the first time.

The everyday, the ordinary stuff you just walk past, the things you see but you are not really look at, this is now capturing my imagination and inspiring me.

The best example of this was driving earlier this year, I literally slammed on the brakes, reversed back up the road to look at this amazing pink blossom against the bright blue sky which caught my eye as I drove past.

It was not the tree itself, I was struck by the colour of the pink blossom coming off the blue sky.

This tree was not in a big national park, just in somebody’s front garden, as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to paint it.

This is how I am feeling, and evolving, colour, shape and atmosphere has taken over how I see things.

I can relate to many times I have enjoyed sitting under large trees, picnics, or a drink in the summer but the reason this painting exists is due to the colour and the beauty that I saw on that morning.

Enjoying the trees, a full moon, beaches, a sunset reflecting in to water, the normal every day nature of the world we live in.

Maybe this is natural shift as you get older, you see the beauty and appreciate the natural world and the simplicity life offers.
