This 2nd Edition of the narrative history remains a tribute to past teachers & pupils, especially to Mr Swaab, the headmaster who produced ÒA Short History of Elborow SchoolÓ in 1954, but now includes the early career of Headmaster, Mr. Simmonds, as well as personal reminiscences of life at school in the 1930s. An additional Appendix describes the history of the Elborow Mission and St. PhilipÕs Church, and an Index is now provided. Richard Elborowe's life is described in detail, including his relationship with his nephew, the Naturalist, James Pettiver. The 250-year history of the School includes the changes in Staff and teaching methods over time, and the pupils are not forgotten: their lessons, sporting and academic achievements, even an heroic exploit, are included, being interspersed with local events and personal memoirs of past pupils. Another Appendix gives biographies of Rugby notaries who went to Elborow. The book should appeal to those interested in Rugby History as well as Elborow School.

Really snug, but not uncomfortable
Size: Large, Color: Black
I don't know why these were so much tighter than all the other UA socks I've bought over the years. Not uncomfortable, just really tight when putting them on.

Leg part is TIGHT
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
I am a size 15, and the foot portion is comfortable enough, but the fit of the leg portion is so exceedingly tight that I can't wear them for long, which makes them worthless. I would return them if I didn't already toss the packaging.

Post-COVID Sock Hunt: Finally a Win
Size: Medium, Color: (001) Black / Black / White
Ever since COVID, I haven’t been able to find a pair of socks that hold up for more than a few months. Brands like UA, Adidas, and others seem to have cut corners—likely in response to inflation—by downgrading materials and labor rather than raising prices. The result? Socks that wear thin, rip easily, or lose shape fast. These, however, have been a pleasant surprise. I’ve been wearing them for a few weeks and so far, they’re holding strong. You can tell some cost-saving measures were still made—certain areas feel slightly thinner—but overall, the construction is solid. A key win: they stay on. These are ankle socks (not “no-shows”), and they hug the ankle securely. That’s a huge plus in a world where most post-COVID no-shows slide off halfway through the day. We may never get back to the pre-COVID quality standards without paying a premium, but for now, these are a reliable choice. Ratings: • No slipping: 10/10 • Price: 7/10 • Durability (so far): No pilling or loose threads — promising start.
