In 1711, the imperious Virginia patriarch William Byrd II spitefully refused his wife Lucy's plea for a book; a century later, Lady Jean Skipwith placed an order that sent the Virginia bookseller Joseph Swan scurrying to please. These vignettes bracket a century of change in white southern women's lives. Claiming the Pen offers the first intellectual history of early southern women. It situates their reading and writing within the literary culture of the wider Anglo-Atlantic world, thus far understood to be a masculine province, even as they inhabited the limited, provincial social circles of the plantation South.

Catherine Kerrison uncovers a new realm of female education in which conduct-of-life advice--both the dry pedantry of sermons and the risqu plots of novels--formed the core reading program. Women, she finds, learned to think and write by reading prescriptive literature, not Greek and Latin classics, in impromptu home classrooms, rather than colleges and universities, and from kin and friends, rather than schoolmates and professors. Kerrison also reveals that southern women, in their willingness to take up the pen and so claim new rights, seized upon their racial superiority to offset their gender inferiority. In depriving slaves of education, southern women claimed literacy as a privilege of their whiteness, and perpetuated and strengthened the repressive institutions of slavery.

"Solid credentials and nice presentation"...
The product presents as a professional well made product. The site page could be improved a tad with details just to match up with the product received. "FDA registered" is a requirement so it's not an over-and-beyond move. However, GMP certified and 3rd party lab tested are and are nice pluses. Capsule size is MEDIUM. MG per capsule is 600 MG or more based on the label which is pretty good. Black pepper is known to aid in absorption so you always want to see that with turmeric and some other supplements that benefit from its addition. Made in the USA is great. Ingredients are sourced domestically and globally. It would be nice to know where they come from outside of the USA. This is a very solid option for turmeric.

Tastes Great & Actually Works!
Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
I was honestly surprised by how good these Benefiber chewable tablets taste — no weird texture or aftertaste at all. They’re super easy to take, especially if you don’t like mixing powders into drinks. Best of all, they really work! I noticed a difference quickly without any discomfort. This has become a daily staple for me, and I love how convenient and effective it is. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an easy fiber boost that doesn’t feel like a chore.

Fiber That's Actually Fun!
Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
Who knew fiber could be this enjoyable? Benefiber's chewable tablets have turned my daily routine into a flavor-packed adventure. Pros: Delicious Flavors: These assorted fruit flavors make taking fiber feel like indulging in a treat. No Water Needed: Pop a tablet and go—no need to chase it down with a glass of water. Digestive Dynamo: They work wonders for keeping things moving smoothly, if you catch my drift. Cons: Sweet Tooth Alert: They are a bit sweet, so if you're cutting back on sugar, keep that in mind. In a nutshell, these chewable fiber tablets have made me a fiber fan. If you're looking to add some zest to your digestive health routine, give them a try.

Love these instead of gummies!
Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
I grew tired of the brand name gummies I had been taking for years and switched to these about 2 weeks ago. I love them! I enjoy chewing them because they taste good and aren’t so sticky (I have TMJ/bite/jaw issues). I much prefer these and they work very well to keep me regular. I’ve converted to these now and got a subscription for them.
