Published by DC Comics February 1959. Cover by Curt Swan and Michael Kaye. A classic Superman\Luthor confrontation.

We don't have a huge amount of experience in grading books lower than FN-, so with this a VG+ book please form your own opinion based on the SuperSize images and the facts cited here. An appealing cover despite a some flaws. The cover reflects light well (with 70% or more of original gloss) and has strong coloring. There are a number of minor color breaking creases (see below for Definition of a Crease) eminating from the spine and edges, a 2 inch long color breaking crease to the right of Superman, several more minor color breaking creases, and a dog-ear to the lower left corner, but much of the cover's impact is still intact. Interior pages are very supple and cream to off-white with strong colors to the story panels. The staples are extremely well placed and the cover well cut with color extending all the way to the spine. The cover is nicely attached to both staples. The book is complete with all pages securely attached with no interior tears or rips except for three pages with a few millimeters torn off). A number of flaws, but still an appealing book which displays nicely and reads well!

Comic Grading - Definition of a Crease.

Crease - A fold which causes ink removal, usually resulting in a white line.  This seems to be the sense of what a crease is to Overstreet's Grading Guidelines and most comic graders.  We note two categories of creasing in our descriptions, 1) color breaking and 2) non-color breaking.

For a color breaking crease, it must show that white line, though of course the thickness, length, and cover location of the crease are all important factors in how severely the crease actually degrades the cover's impact.

A non-color breaking crease is technically not a crease since it doesn't break color, but to those of us who have spent hours obsessing over our books, it is an interruption in the gloss or how the cover reflects light.  Take a smooth unblemished white sheet of paper and press your thumb nail into it several times using varying amounts of pressure.  As the paper is white there is no break in color, but depending on lighting and its angle to the paper eventually you would be able to see every point where the nail impressed the paper.  Again the noticeability, number, and locations of non-color breaking creases are factors affecting the quality of the cover.

If a cover is generally smooth, this means the non-color breaking creases present are interfering little with the cover's appearance.  These kinds of creases range from unnoticeable in normal viewing conditions to very intrusive.  A comic must be very carefully handled to avoid leaving these impressions at the edges.

Unfortunately, scans of the covers, even the enlargeable pictures we employ, do not always fully depict these imperfections.  We try to fill in the gaps by offering our estimate of what the Overstreet Grade would likely be, and by giving a detailed written description.

Like most comic buyers and graders we have exchanged thoughts with, we agree that Overstreet Grading Guidelines provide a helpful starting point to access a book's quality, but we all have our own tastes and biases, and sharp disagreements on various books as well as complaints about Overstreet's approach.  Different books will impress you differently than they would us, which is why I try to be detailed and factual.  We are merely trying to provide buyers with enough background so the book received satisfies or exceeds the expectations generated by our listing.

We are currently in the process of listing dozens of Detective Comics from the Silver and Bronze Age.  See our listings for many high quality comics from this era.
Please note there is a $4.00 handling fee for this purchase. The fees charged do not fully compensate for labor and materials necessary to process a purchase. Purchases will ship within 5 business days.

We have tried to be precise and reasonable in our grading.  However, since grading has many gray areas ... No Condition is guaranteed.  No one can catch or describe every flaw, though generally our listings in detail and accuracy surpass 90% of other sellers.  Better yet, with supersize images for every item you can make sounder judgements about the quality of the item.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or want additional scans via email.

We are posting a number of Silver Age Superman, Batman,  and other DC titles.  Consider me for your 1962 to 1973 DC Comic needs.  Where else can you get 90% of all Challengers of the Unknown issues?

Bigger/sturdier than expected = good and bad. Recharging cable is USB to USB-C. Need old style brick
I like the design in that it comes with a cover that shields the wand in my utensil drawer but its a bit bigger than expected. So its a plus that its sturdier but a minus that it takes up more space. The USB-C cable is USB to USB-C and not USB-C to USB-C so I had to go fishing for an old brick. Am hoping it doesn't need to charge often. The indicator shows its plugged in but not whether charged.

Ok
Got three years out of it. Better than some others. Docked two stars for lifespan. Docked another star for the paint finish which is not durable and marks easily. Should be more like $15 ?

I am very impressed!
This little frother is perfect and my frappé coffee tastes as if I were sitting at one of the hundreds cute, outside cafés in Thessaloniki. It whips stiff coffee foam in just a few seconds, holds charge for a long time, and appears to be of superior quality. Variable speed control is great, as it prevents the coffee liquid to splash when starting the frothing process. Granted, I have only owned it for about 2 weeks, but I am totally impressed, and hope it'll keep making delicious frappés for me for a long time to come. So far, highly recommend!

Whips as good as my Nespresso Aerocino!
Love this frother. Whips milk as good as my Nespresso Aerocino! I have tried several that just made light foam, but this one is wonderful. And, rechargeable also. Charge lasts a very long time. Great for travel!
