Challenging the belief that the sense of smell diminished during human evolution, Shepherd argues that this sense, which constitutes the main component of flavor, is far more powerful and essential than previously believed. Shepherd begins Neurogastronomy with the mechanics of smell, particularly the way it stimulates the nose from the back of the mouth. As we eat, the brain conceptualizes smells as spatial patterns, and from these and the other senses it constructs the perception of flavor. Shepherd then considers the impact of the flavor system on contemporary social, behavioral, and medical issues. He analyzes flavor's engagement with the brain regions that control emotion, food preferences, and cravings, and he even devotes a section to food's role in drug addiction and, building on Marcel Proust's iconic tale of the madeleine, its ability to evoke deep memories. Shepherd connects his research to trends in nutrition, dieting, and obesity, especially the challenges that many face in eating healthily. He concludes with human perceptions of smell and flavor and their relationship to the neural basis of consciousness. Great lightweight beach blanket
Color: Blue, Size: 7x7 FT (1～3 person)
This is a great beach blanket, very well designed. Really lightweight, durable, quick drying, easy to use, packs very small. Stakes are included, but we never use them since the corner pockets filled with sand are sufficient to hold the blanket in place. Folding instructions are also provided, but you can just stuff quickly the blanket into the attached pouch, and the overall fine wrinkles are not an issue -- the blanket still looks very nice. The blanket is very thin, so there's no extra "padding" (this is what keeps it super lightweight and quick drying), but it works great on soft sand, so it's perfect for our use. (This is the first one I've bought, but we've used my son's for years.)

Large blanket that packs small, is lightweight, sand proof, anchors easy with provided stakes and pockets for sand to weigh down- it stays put even in the strongest winds. Have taken to South Africa and Hawaii- everyone wants it!! Washes so easily.

Festival Must Have

Enough said. It was quick, easy, big and awesome! The 3 person fit 5 of us. It’s light, and folds up small. We used it on wet grass and didn’t get wet! It was awesome. Buying extras for presents.

easy to setup and clean

We use this constantly for kids sports. I do wish I would have got the smaller size because it's really big. I love the hooks that hold it in the ground. There's also pockets to use sand to weight it down. I was expecting the material to be a little different, it feels like a windbreaker, but it cleans really nicely.

First off, this thing is HUGE! I love that the side pockets fill with sand to keep from flying away and how easy it is to stuff back in and put away.. Its definitley machine wash safe (use cool water to prevent the material from getting messed up) and it doesn't get that wet towel smell if being used multiple times during a trip.. It's been camping and beaching LOL.. Would buy again when this one needs to be replaced.
