Dave sends a mysterious unknown woman, Eva Dubois into Shelmerton Cove to learn Annie's secrets. Though unknowingly selkie herself, Eva alienates everyone in the Cove in her pursuit of her secret mission. She and Dave obtain the proof that Annie can change into a seal and blackmail her into leaving with Dave or he will expose her people to the outside world. Roane's leadership skills and inner strength are put to the test when he must solve the puzzle of Malachy's disappearance, rescue Annie, and win a hostile Eva to the selkie cause.
