Pack of Two: The Intricate Bond Between People and DogsAt the age of 36, Caroline Knapp, author of the acclaimed bestseller Drinking: A Love Story, found herself confronted with a monumental task: redefining her world. She had faced the loss of both her parents, given up a twenty year relationship with alcohol, and, as she writes, "I was wandering around in a haze of uncertainty, blinking up at the biggest questions: Who am I without parents and without alcohol? How to form attachments, and where to find
At the age of 36, Caroline Knapp, author of the acclaimed bestseller Drinking: A Love Story, found herself confronted with a monumental task: redefining her world. She had faced the loss of both her parents, given up a twenty-year relationship with alcohol, and, as she writes, "I was wandering around in a haze of uncertainty, blinking up at the biggest questions: Who am I without parents and without alcohol? How to form attachments, and where to find comfort, in the face of such daunting vulnerability?" An answer materialized in the most unlikely form: that of a dog. Eighteen months to the day after she quit drinking, Knapp stumbled upon an eight-week-old puppy at a local animal shelter, took her home, and named her Lucille. Now two years old, Lucille has become a central force in Knapp's life: "In her," she writes, "I have found solace, joy, a bridge to the world." Caroline Knapp has been celebrated as much for her fresh insight into emotional and psychological issues as she has been for her gifts as a writer. In Pack of Two, she brings the same perception and talent to bear on the rich, complicated terrain of human-animal relationships. In addition to mining her own experience with Lucille, Knapp speaks to a wide variety of dog people--from animal behaviorists and psychologists to other owners whose dogs have deeply affected their lives--about this emotionally complex, sometimes daunting, often profoundly healing alliance. Throughout, she explores the shift in canine roles from working partners to intimate companions and looks, too, at how this new kinship, this wordless bond, becomes a template for what we most desire ourselves.Binding Type: Paperback

Cute and company, but packing makes it VERY wrinkled
Color: Black, Size: 16 Inch
The bag is really cute and designed so well, can't believe how spacious it is yet compact! Not bulky and doesn't take up much room, lots of pockets. Perfect for both fashion and function. Took off stars thought because it came folded in half in its package and it's VERY wrinkled. Kind of takes away from it's look and makes it look bad :( pretty major wrinkles everywhere and I'm not sure if it can come out in this material, though I will try ironing it. If the company shipped it better it would be 5 stars.

Great stylish work backpack
Color: Black, Size: 16 Inch
I’ve had this backpack for a year and a half now and it has held up very well. I use it for work and work trips. It has many pockets for organization and fits everything I need including my 14 inch work laptop. Very stylish (not sporty) and appropriate for the office.

i love my new work bag
the fabric was water resistant and none of my belongings got wet under light rain. it fit my laptop, chargers, notebooks, two toiletry bags, plus a puffer vest and a wool tucker jacket. it got me through international customs and TSA quickly. when asked to search my bag for liquids prior to boarding an international flight from south america to the US, the agent complimented my bag, and i made record time through the line and to my seat on the plane. the zippers work great and have yet to fail me. lightweight and surprisingly sturdy. do be advised that the lighter colors will take on some damage after a few dozen bus rides, but it’s to be expected and i’m not mad at it. great purchase for the price !
