Originally released in May 1982, ‘Combat Rock’ is the final album from The Clash of Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon. Featuring two of the band’s most well-known songs, ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ and ‘Rock The Casbah’, plus favourites ‘Straight To Hell’ and ‘Know Your Rights’, it is both their biggest selling album and highest charting set in both the UK and US.Now comes a special edition of the album, titled ‘Combat Rock/The People’s Hall’. It couples the album with an additional 12-tracks compiled by The Clash.
Having returned to London following their pivotal 17-show residency at New York’s Bond’s Casino in 1981, the band rehearsed and recorded at The People’s Hall in the squatted Republic of Frestonia near Latimer Road in London and from there they embarked on a tour of the East and Southeast Asia, during which the album sleeve image was captured by Pennie Smith in Thailand.
The tracks on ‘The People’s Hall’ chart the period from what was their last single Radio Clash right up to the release of Combat Rock, including unheard, rare and early versions of tracks.
The disc highlights a new version of ‘Know Your Rights’ which was recorded at The People’s Hall on the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, and the previously unreleased instrumental ‘He Who Dares Or Is Tired’. Other notable tracks include ‘Futura 2000’, an unreleased original mix of ‘The Escapades of Futura 2000’, Mikey Dread’s ‘Radio One’, and the outtakes ‘The Fulham Connection’, previously known as ‘The Beautiful People Are Ugly Too’ as well as ‘Idle in Kangaroo Court’.
‘Combat Rock’ is indicative of The Clash’s constant evolution and was influenced in part by the relatively recent end of the Vietnam War, particularly on ‘Sean Flynn’, inspired by the disappearance of the photojournalist and film star’s son. The band’s curiosity and range is illustrated by the many styles and voices here, notably poet Allen Ginsberg’s apocalyptic spoken word on ‘Ghetto Defendant’ and graffiti artist Futura’s rap on ‘Overpowered By Funk’.
The Clash’s influence on punk, post-punk and indie rock is well documented and ‘Combat Rock’ specifically continues to inspire waves of rediscovery from new audiences, most notably with the use of ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ as a prominent plot device in the first season of the Netflix smash ‘Stranger Things’. Meanwhile, ‘Straight To Hell’ remains instantly recognizable having been used in ‘Paper Planes’ by M.I.A.

Quiet and Effective frother/mixer and Terrific Customer Service
Zulay Kitchen Powerful Milk Frother Wand
We ordered two Zulay frother wands and after just several months of continuous usage one of the units stopped working and the other one was sporadically working, where sometimes it would run “full power” and at other times it was barely spinning or turning the beverage.
I called Zulay and gave them my Amazon order number. After the Customer Service rep walked me through some minor things to check on the units she was also convinced that the units were probably defective. She had a replacement sent from Zulay along with a mini as a bonus for our troubles! And she had Amazon ship the other replacement unit.
Both shipments arrived promptly within days and we have been using them for months now without any major issues. We use the units (the two “standard” wands) almost every day and they get used two to three times a day. They only take ten to twenty seconds to mix up cocoa powder, hot or cold. And the same goes for different protein powder shakes.
What I especially like about these units is that there have been many times when I have had to use them off-hours, like between 5:00 and 6:00 AM. They are Whisper quiet so nobody gets disturbed. One generally can’t do this level of quiet stirring/mixing with a kitchen hand blender/mixer or shake blenders. These Zulay mixing units have really come in “handy” for us.
We are very Grateful to Amazon for their prompt delivery, and especially to the Customer Service representative at Zulay for her help, and to Zulay for standing behind their products and providing us with terrific and prompt Customer Service! Thank you!
Cheers!

Great look and very powerful - consider what your wanting to froth/mix - may be too powerful
Color: Lux White, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
It's a great frother - but more for large drinks. Very powerful, even on the low speed. I returned it because I want something to mix my collagen and creamer in my coffee. The first time I turned it on it shot half the coffee out of the cup - very powerful. It has a great look, sleek and fits easy in the hand - but for what I needed, two powerful. It would have been nice to have a fully adjustable speed wand like my replaceable battery powered frother.

Powerful, rechargeable battery, easy to use & clean
Color: Lux Absolute Silver, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
2 speeds, easy to change back and forth to different speeds with one click , easily blends 1/4 cup protein powder in 12 oz milk on low speed. Easy to clean: Stick blending wand in tall glass with warm water + dish soap, turn on low speed to clean easily (don’t stick the part that holds the battery in glass). Also of note, chosen by Americas Test Kitchen as best milk frother but I use it to make protein shakes.

Works great on bullet coffee!!
Color: Lux Alpha Black, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
I am really pleased with this frother! Frothers I have used in the past didn’t mix my decaf coffee, 2% milk, and MCT oil as thoroughly as I like (oil and coffee separated). This frother blends everything AND I get a nice layer of frothy milk on top!!! Charge lasts a long and the froth can be submerged all the way up to the button!!!
