From the Ashes Volume ixFrom the Ashes was originally started by a group of students at the International Academy in 1998. This group of students published the first issue of the International Academy literary magazine. After 1998, the magazine took a hiatus. In 2004, Mrs. Erin Saxsma was asked to be the new literary magazine advisor. This group of students worked really hard to get student writing and poetry for the next edition of From the Ashes. This group of students worked really hard to get student writing and poetry for the next edition of From the Ashes. Finally, in 2005, Mrs. Klaudia Janek was asked to be the new literary magazine advisor and students spent the year collecting poetry, stories and artwork. The first volume was published in 2006, with 2 years of student work. The Phoenix Publishing Group was founded and an issue of From the Ashes has come out every year. We are currently publishing our 9th edition of From the Ashes in 2014. Students from all 3 campuses of the International Academy are invited to publish their work.
