Begonia ‘Corallina de Lucerna’ (Angel Wing Begonia) is one of the most well-known and long-loved cane begonias, prized for its striking spotted foliage and reliable flowering. First developed in the early 20th century, this cultivar has stood the test of time thanks to its combination of elegance and resilience.
Its elongated, wing-shaped leaves are deep green with distinctive silver spotting, carried on upright, bamboo-like stems that give it height and structure. Under the right conditions, it produces cascading clusters of soft pink flowers, often appearing multiple times throughout the year.
Unlike some more delicate begonias, ‘Lucerna’ is known for being relatively forgiving, making it a great entry point into cane begonias while still appealing to collectors who appreciate its classic status. Plant Care
Light: Likes bright light but can deal with a bit of lower light. An East or West window is ideal.
Watering: These plants like to have moist soil all the time, but don't let it sit in water as it's prone to root rot. Try to avoid splashing water on its leaves.
Temperature: 18-30°C These plants just want a steady, even temperature and high humidity
Potting: These plants like a well-draining and moisture-retaining mix. Our Thirst Trap mix is an excellent choice for this plant.
Hot tips: These plants love humidity but really can't tolerate a lot of moisture on their delicate leaves, so skip the misting and add in a pebble tray or place it with friends to up the humidity.
