Even at the age of seventeen he was the greatest swordsman in England and his reputation as a fearless outlaw had traveled far and wide. At eighteen there was a tremendous price upon his head. At nineteen he was the leader of a fierce robber band of more than one thousand men of all kinds, from nobleman to serf; the only requisites for admission being willingness and ability to fight and an oath to obey the laws made by the Outlaw of Torn.
