Breathing new life into a pair of decommissioned Legacy F/A-18 Hornet wings, TransportTags has embarked on an innovative recycling journey creating custom crafted tags that we are pleased to present to aviation enthusiasts and collectors alike.

We were thrilled to acquire these Legacy Hornet wings in the spring of 2023, and while they were unfortunately not in suitable condition to use in any type of restoration process, there was enough material to be able to produce our Hornet TransportTags. We have very carefully deconstructed the wings and thoroughly cleaned and prepared the material, making sure that it’s original surface is preserved, so that it can be cut, shaped, polished, and then engraved to make the final product - a beautiful F/A-18 Hornet TransportTag.

Each tag shows the distinct markings, weathering, etc., from the area on the wing from which it originated. This makes each tag unique in appearance and feel. As with all of our TransportTags, it can be used in a practical way, as a luggage or key tag, or displayed as part of a collection. We are proud to offer different variants of tags (taken from different areas of the wings) that showcase the unique construction of the F/A-18 Hornet. From thick carbon composite tags taken from the main structure of the wings, to thin composite and aluminum from flaps as well as honeycombed aluminum, riveted titanium portions, and trigger lock sections from an underwing LAU. We have been able to showcase many aspects of the Hornets design.

Production of each of our TransportTags serves a dual purpose: being able to share a part of transportation history, and also to raise funds to restore other historic aircraft - and save them from being lost forever.
