All Indian Reprints of O'Reilly are printed in GrayscaleEvery distributed system strives for reliability, performance, and quality, but building such a system is hard. Establishing a set of design patterns enables software developers and system architects to use a common language to describe their systems and learn from the patterns and practices developed others. The popularity of containers and Kubernetes paves the way for core distributed system patterns and reusable containerized components. This practical guide presents a collection of repeatable, generic patterns to help guide the systems you build using common patterns and practices drawn from some of the highest performing distributed systems in use today. These common patterns make the systems you build far more approachable and efficient, even if you've never built a distributed system before.Author Brendan Burns demonstrates how you can adapt existing software design patterns for designing and building reliable distributed applications. Systems engineers and application developers will learn how these long-established patterns provide a common language and framework for dramatically increasing the quality of your system. This fully updated second edition includes new chapters on AI inference, AI training, and building robust systems for the real world.
Understand how patterns and reusable components enable the rapid development of reliable distributed systems
Use the sidecar, adapter, and ambassador patterns to split your application into a group of containers on a single machine
Explore loosely coupled multinode distributed patterns for replication, scaling, and communication between components
Learn distributed system patterns for large-scale batch data processing covering work queues, event-based processing, and coordinated workflows
About the AuthorBrendan Burns is Corporate Vice President at Microsoft responsible for Azure management and governance, Azure Arc, Kubernetes on Azure, Linux on Azure and PowerShell. Prior to Microsoft he worked at Google in the Google Cloud Platform, where he co-founded the Kubernetes project and helped build APIs like Deployment Manager and Cloud DNS. Before working on cloud, he worked on Google's web-search infrastructure, with a focus on low-latency indexing. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a specialty in Robotics. He lives in Seattle with his wife Robin Sanders, their two children and a cat Mrs. Paws, who rules over their household with an iron paw.

Extra durable and hard
Flavor Name: Marshmallow & Peanut Butter, Size: Large
Much harder and tougher than most of the chews and bones I get. Too tough for my own dog, but it’s become a favorite of two other dogs in my life who are stronger chewers. Also looks adorable when they carry it around.

Treasured chew toy
Flavor Name: Marshmallow & Peanut Butter, Size: Large
I'm on my 2nd one of these as my dog is obsessed with it! He's a heavy chewers and the 1st one lasted 1 month. Held up pretty well for his strong jaws and he loves it. Great buy!

Terrific! Much easier to use than Kongs and my dog loves it.
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Medium
I like these so much better than the original Kongs. The large opening makes it so much easier to put peanut butter or cream cheese into it. Plus much easier to clean out afterwards. My dog also likes to chew it and play with it throwing it in the air after he’s done eating the peanut butter. Very sturdy - he chews apart stuffed toys but his chewing hasn’t damaged this at all. I highly recommend this product!

Great for strong chewing dogs. Entertaining too!
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Medium
My black lab can destroy the toughest of dog chew toys, but he's not destroyed this peanut. I fill it with peanut butter, yogurt, pumpkin or apple sauce and freeze it. It keeps him entertained for quite a while. When the filling is gone, he leaves it alone or carries it around begging for a filled one.
