The fifth volume in this popular series from the Southern Foodways Alliance spans the food cultures of the South. Cornbread Nation 5, lovingly edited by accomplished food writer Fred W. Sauceman, celebrates food and the ways in which it forges unexpected relationships between people and places. In this collection of more than seventy essays and poems, we read about the food that provides nourishment as well as a sense of community and shared history.

Essays examine Nashville's obsession with hot chicken and the South's passion for congealed foods. There are stories of green tomatoes frying over a campfire in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee and tea cakes baking for Easter in Louisiana. In a chapter on immigrant cooking, writers visit the Mississippi Delta where a Chinese family fries pork rinds in a wok and a Lebanese restaurant serves baklava alongside coconut cream pie. Alan Deutschman, a self-described "Jewish Yankee," chronicles his search for the perfect country ham. Barbara Kingsolver extols on the joys of eating sustainably. Sara Roahen writes a veritable love letter to the venerable New Orleans Sazerac. Kevin Young delights with his "Ode to Chicken," and Donna Tartt treats us to what else but bourbon. Cornbread Nation 5 is a feast for the eyes, and if you're not hungry or thirsty when you pick up this book, you will be when you put it down.

Toss this printer away
Style: WF-3823
Less than a year old and it will not accept Espon print cartridges. I have googled and done everything possible to reboot the printer, but nothing is working

Huge Step Backwards
Style: WF-3823
Purchased this after my WF-3540 finally died. This is a disappointing step backwards in capability for the price. Printing is at best "fine". Getting good color matching / saturation has been a challenge but otherwise acceptable for general things like labels. Despite the confusing documentation (at the time of purchase), this does not do double-sided scanning. This makes using the ADF for multi-sided documents basically pointless. This will be my last Epson. UPDATE - Months have passed and I'm moving it from 2 to 1 star. The ink cartridges run out quickly and are expensive to replace. The ADF jams constantly on scan jobs. The paper pull from the main cassette pulls multiple pages at a time. On top of all that, when using this with a WiFi connection to your network only, the amount of times that it losses connectivity but thinks it is still connected is constant, and/or assigns itself a local IP address instead of getting one from DHCP results in having to cycle power to get it back working. Trash printer.

Happy with my printer!
Style: WF-3823
great buy im super happy with it, i had a HP business printer for about 5 years and I was unhappy with the cost of my $500 ink. So i decided to just buy another printer with a lower cost of ink. I have the same outcome in the printing, great quality, accurate and bright colors. I was able to print business cards and Sticker labels but you can only add 1 sheet to the printer while printing cardstock or labels or it'll jam. But honestly it doesnt matter to me im just happy i dont have to pay so much for ink now. The sheets take a few seconds to print but this is fine for anyone who doesnt need to rush multiple copies. the sheets do shoot out with force when done printing so the sheets do often fall on the floor but if your sitting near you can prevent it. I am able to print wirelessly from both my laptop and iphone!

Easy Peasy to Set Up
Style: WF-3823
This is probably the sixth printer I've purchased, of which this is the second Epson. My first Epson, which is an earlier WF version, is probably at least ten years old and still operates the same as it did when I first purchased it at least ten years ago. The other three printers were a very well known brand, which I won't mention here, and none survived more than a couple of years each. This brand new Epson WF 3823 took about two weeks to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. It was very easy to set up as it took me all of four minutes to connect to my network and print out my first page. And for $80, I feel like they gave it away.
