This book is the deeply moving story of his life -- as a slave, and as a free man.
Douglass wrote three autobiographies, of which the 1855 edition is the most detailed on his life as a slave. In it, readers are not spared the fullest and most graphic descriptions of the cruelty of slavery. Douglass describes his life on a Maryland plantation: the excitement and danger of teaching himself to read and write, his demoralization under a cruel master, and his daring escape.
In the second part of his tale, Douglass, now a fugitive, settles in Massachusetts and joins the anti-slavery movement. He recounts his travels to the British Isles and his first taste of freedom without prejudice, and his return to America to work as spokesman for his oppressed people. In addition to recording his sufferings and his protests, Douglass also provides a keen analysis of the effects of slavery on its victims as well as on society at large.

Love these toys!

My 1 year old pup loves these toys. The clam has been a big hit since it crinkles, has a squeaker "pearl" and a rope. He very proudly brings me this to play with him. Recommend!

Stitching can be weakened by continuous aggressive play.

Not as tough as touted. I will say that my dog loves the textures and sounds. Safely watching so that it does not shred when toy is ripped. Size was perfect for my 80lb dog. Pet has throughly enjoyed an enjoys the toys.

Tough toys for Chewers

My dogs love these toys, they are tough on toys so these appear to be well made. I don't expect them to stay in one piece but if they can last more than a week, they are perfect. So far, they have lasted three weeks so this is a record for toys. Cute, and funny to watch pups play with them. Squeaks once in awhile and really cool toys.

Dog loved it!
Pattern Name: Pumpkin, Size: Large
This was a fall-themed gift for our friends' large dog. He really liked it -- especially the squeaker -- and enjoyed quietly chewing on it during our visit. By the time we left, it was still in good shape. We've given their dog other chew toys, and they are usually pretty beaten up by the time we leave, but this toy still looked and squeaked fine. No telling what it looks like now, but I can definitely say it survived at least 2 days of heavy dog chewing.
