A long time in the making, the album is crammed with unbridled honesty, caustic wit and occasional humour delivered in an engrossing narrative. 'The Vermilion Border' includes a prestigious guest line-up of guest bassists and even reunites her with Dennis Bovell - producer of The Slits seminal 1979 album 'The Cut'. With 'The Vermilion Border' (a biological term for the border between the reddish skin of the lip and the more regular skin of the face), Viv is documenting a border crossing in so many different ways: from domesticity to the uncertainty of life as an artist. From the comfort and safety of marriage, towards solitude and introspection, but always with the goal of personal freedom and self expression in her sights. The order of the songs on the album tells a story - often with humour, always with spirit - beginning with anger, moving through disillusionment and arriving at a breakthrough with the ability to see beauty in the world again. Romance, Steam, and Angst!

When successful movie star Natalie Keane hires Taylor Vaughn to be her bodyguard and fake girlfriend, it doesn't take long for their pretend attraction to spark very real feelings, but with both women deeply scarred by the past, is a Hollywood-style happy ending possible?
Strictly speaking, Cover Story is a celebrity romance. Natalie Keane is a successful film actress whose career is at a high point thanks to a recent Golden Globe nomination. She has an entourage and even lives in a large house that boasts its own observatory with a telescope. But that being said, this is not the glitzy, glamourous, escapist story some readers might associate with the celebrity romance trope. While she may be a powerful star to the outside world, internally, Natalie is quiet, introspective, and perpetually haunted by a traumatic incident from her past. Her carefully insulated world is an extension of the emotional barriers she's built around her heart.
Enter Taylor Vaughn, the sexy, competent bodyguard Natalie hires to pose as her girlfriend while providing extra security. On the surface, she's the perfect heroine to rescue the reclusive Natalie, all while their attraction sizzles to the point of combusting. But Taylor has vulnerabilities and self-doubts too, and the closer she gets to Natalie, the more she risks pushing past her own physical and emotional limitations.
Cover Story has plenty of Hollywood excitement, including red carpet interviews and movie stunts. And there is no shortage of romance or heat between Natalie and Taylor, but what really gives the story impact is the poignant and authentic journeys of heart and mind that the characters take separately and together. The journeys are not straightforward, but ultimately, they highlight the power of healing, taking risks, and finding a person to feel safe with.
If you enjoy sapphic stories with romance, steam, but also a healthy dose of angst and authenticity, you'll be captivated by Cover Story.

Chemistry/connection & spice were great, but there was so much potential for a better story!
Format: Paperback
The potential of this story was high and the chemistry and connection between the characters was well done, but the "climax" was anti-climatic unfortunately. The author could have done so much more with a story about a stalker and fame. The spicy scenes were very well written/very hot, but I wish we had a more exciting ending with higher stakes and a bigger reward for the high stakes. I had to dock 1 star for that.

hot and heavy

Although the smart is limited, it is very heavy and extremely well detailed. I loved how the love story blossom and we got to see every aspect, it seems any other book. I’ve read lately. The love story doesn’t get quite an enough detail put in. All in all it was a really nice book to read. A break from the depressing historical fiction. I’ve been reading lately.

Great Story.

I thought this book was very entertaining. I found it interesting that the main character, Natalie Keane famous actress had so much trauma since she was a child that continued to build when she was kidnapped that kept her secluded. I liked the other main character, Taylor Vaughn, a bodyguard who also supported her parents who's is so sweet of her. Taylor had physical issues that helped her relate in some way with Natalie. Though their relationship was fake at the beginning as time went on it became more real which both realized they were in love. I liked that the author gave detail descriptions of the main characters. Though I wished it was more in the beginning chapters and not throughout the story. I did like the ending and epilogue. I was a little disappointed there wasn't more. I truly enjoyed reading this. I would recommend this book to everyone that loves a good romance.
