Vivid, surprising, and utterly timely, Akiko Busch's HOW TO DISAPPEAR explores the idea of invisibility in nature, art, and science, in search of a more joyful and peaceful way of living in today's increasingly surveilled and publicity-obsessed world In our increasingly networked and image-saturated lives, the notion of disappearing has never been both more enchanting and yet fanciful. Today, we are relentlessly encouraged, even conditioned, to reveal, share, and self-promote. The pressure to be public comes not just from our peers, but vast and pervasive technology companies, which want to profit from patterns in our behavior. A lifelong student and observer of the natural world, Busch sets out to explore her own uneasiness with this arrangement, and what she senses is a widespread desire for a less scrutinized way of life--for invisibility. Writing in rich painterly detail about her own life, her family, and some of the world's most exotic and remote places--from the Cayman Islands to Iceland--she savors the pleasures of being unseen. Discovering and dramatizing a wonderful range of ways of disappearing, from virtual reality goggles that trick the wearer into believing her body has disappeared and to the way Virginia Woolf's fictional Mrs. Dalloway feels a flickering of personhood as an older woman, Busch deliberates on subjects new and old with equal sensitivity and incisiveness. A unique and exhilarating accomplishment, HOW TO DISAPPEAR is a shimmering collage of poetry, cinema, memoir, myth, and much more, which overturns the dangerous modern assumption that somehow fame and visibility equate to success and happiness. Busch presents a field guide to invisibility, reacquainting us with the merits of the inconspicuousness, and finds genuine alternatives to the typical life of perpetual exposure. Accessing timeless truths in order to speak to our most urgent contemporary problems, she inspires us to develop a deeper appreciation for personal privacy in a vast and invasive world.Binding Type: Paperback

Excellent cabinet towel rack.
I had no doubt that this item had to be good from the moment I saw the detailed pictures of it on Amazon. The item is built very well out of stainless steel and adjusts easily to fit the cabinet door in the kitchen. I am so impressed by the way it is working. I can hang 6 different wash clothes/towels on it and not have to have them clutter the sink area. I am very impressed by this item. The fact that it adjusts in length also means that I can get the most use out of it.

Can easily hide towels
Works nicely. I have it mounted with towels hanging on the inside of my cabinet so you see only the small hooks on the outside of the cabinet door. It extends nicely and has ample room for one towel folded in half on each bar; you would have to fold each towel again to get 2 side by side. Only minor issue the hooks extend over the door a little lower than I'd like and they are beveled outward on the bottom so you see this on the outside. I have a similar design single bar rack with smaller less noticeable hooks. Neither one is completely invisible but at least I can hide the towels and not cover up my new beautiful stainless range or cabinets with towels. Worth the money.

A simple but useful little gadget
I love my little galley kitchen which really only has one wall as it is open to the family room and dining room. So no available wall space meant no place to install towel bars. That meant there was no space to hang up my dish towels to dry. These towel bars were the solution to that little (but daily) annoyance. They attached easily and securely to my cabinet drawers. I am very pleased with them.

Great Towel Rack
This is a replacement for a similar towel rack. It looked exactly the same, but welds failed after a number of years. This one is designed much better. It is adjustable the other was not. Very clean looking and expect this to last at least as long as the other or longer. My wife loves it.

Sturdy but hard to use
This bar is sturdy and doesn't bend but the bars are too close together making it difficult to hang towels on.
Pro: sturdy and quality made
Con: hard to use
