In the past, farmers from northern China used naturally dried HULUs (gourds) to scoop water and wash rice. Tableware and eating utensils were considered essential family belongings that connected everyone to the same table, symbolizing harmony and a sense of home. The HULU has been used for natural containers since the Chou Dynasty (1066 BC-770 BC). In wedding ceremonies of this period, brides and grooms exchanged drinks from a HULU that was cut into two halves. This ritual symbolized the harmony of yin and yang, while the making of one entity from two parts represented the beginning of the home for newlyweds.

The wine decanter takes the organic form of the HULU, enlivening the dining experience. When in use, wider round body allows enough room for aeration. Stainless steel filter separates wine sediment and aerates the wine to fully develop its aroma and taste. Base holder is used to secure decanter and to adjust the position of the decanter to optimize the exposure to air. 

• Volume: 1.8 liters.
• Material: stainless steel; mouthblown glass; silicone; thermoplastic rubber.
• Care: hand wash with warm water and mild detergent. Add decanter cleaning beads as a scrubbing agent. Dried beans or uncooked rice can be an inexpensive alternative. Wipe the surface with dry cloth and air-dry.

In Asian countries, wine/liquor is consumed both warm and cold. When used for either temperature of wine, the double-glazed, mouthblown vessel keeps the beverage in desirable temperature for long period of time.

• Material: heat-resistant, double-wall glass; stainless steel; silicone.
