Not many have been able to make a career out of poetry, but her determination and love for her craft has made it possible. At the age of 17, she won 3rd place in the NAACPs Act So national competition. This fueled her desire to accomplish much more and she did just that. She later produced 7 sold out

Madea Bailey, professionally known as Da Truth Da Poet, is a successful poet, teacher, mentor, and motivational speaker hailing from Baltimore, MD. Not many have been able to make a career out of poetry, but her determination and love for her craft has made it possible. At the age of 17, she won 3rd place in the NAACPÕs Act-So national competition. This fueled her desire to accomplish much more and she did just that. She later produced 7 sold out productions, received the Baltimore Crown Award for Poet of the Year in 2021, and has employed over 100 artists for different platforms. Not only has Truth been a powerhouse in the art community, she has also been an asset in our school systems, voluntarily devoting herself to be an active aide in strengthening social awareness and change.
