Roger Henri Vivier (13 November 1907 – 2 October 1998) was a French fashion designer who specialized in shoes. His best-known creation was the stiletto heel.

Vivier has been called the "Fragonard of the shoe" and his shoes "the Fabergé of Footwear" by numbers of critics. He designed extravagant, richly decorated shoes that he described as sculptures. He is credited with the design of the first platform shoe in 1937 and the first stiletto heel in 1954. Stiletto heels, the very thin high heel, were certainly discovered around in the late 19th century, as numerous fetish drawings attest, but Vivier is known for reviving and developing this opulent style by using a thin rod of steel.

Ava Gardner, Gloria Guinness and The Beatles were all Vivier customers, and he designed shoes for Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation in 1953.

Vivier designed shoes for house Christian Dior from 1953 to 1963. In addition to the stiletto heel, he also experimented with other shapes, including the comma. He used silk, pearls, beads, lace, appliqué and jewels to create unique decorations for his shoes.

In the 1960s, Vivier also designed silk-satin knee boots outlined in jewels, and thigh-high evening boots in a black elastic knit with beads. Perhaps his best-known boot design of the decade were the low-heeled, thigh-high, black crocodile boots he produced for Yves Saint Laurent's fall 1963 collection, paired with a Space Age-looking, all-black Saint Laurent ensemble of tights, suede jerkin, short ciré jacket, and helmet-like visored cap and hood, the boots a variation of a pair Vivier had designed for a Rudolph Nureyev performance of Swan Lake. His possibly most iconic shoe design of the decade, the low-heeled Pilgrim pumps with silver buckles produced for Yves Saint Laurent's 1965 Mondrian collection (worn by Catherine Deneuve in the film Belle de Jour) received international publicity and many imitations.

Vivier has a boutique on the Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré, whose design is inspired by Vivier's apartment. The collection is designed by Bruno Frisoni. Exclusivity is the hallmark of the line, with many shoes made to order, some with hand-embroidered gold thread. There are now three shops in the USA. The latest opened in May 2012. Vivier's shoes are on display at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto and the Musée de la mode et du textile at the Louvre.

Absolutely perfect
Color: Pink, Size: 23.8''D x 22.3''W*38.4''H
Love the color and it’s very comfortable. I can also use an additional back rest when needed. It’s small enough for my limited work space, but large enough to accommodate my height requirements. It was quite easy to assemble, as I frequently put furniture together. I’ve had it for about a month and I’m hoping that it lasts a good while.

Good, cheap, small.
Color: Black, Size: 21.7''D x 21.7''W*38.2''H
The quality is better than expected for the price. Seat cushion is firm but not overly hard, wheels roll nicely, piston goes up and down smoothly, and assembly is quick and easy. The one major caveat is that it's quite small. If the user is going to be maybe 5'4 or less, it'll work (this was for a child, so it turned out great). But even on a 5'6 user, the seat is rather shallow (front to back) and the armrests are so low that your elbows won't reach unless you have freakishly long arms. If you're after a cheap office chair for brief adult use, or for kids, this is perfect. I don't know how they turn a profit given that it's a fully functional office chair, shipped from China to your doorstep, for only $30. However, if you're of average height or bigger, it's probably going to be too small for you.

I regret
Color: Black, Size: 21.7''D x 21.7''W*38.2''H
A very uncomfortable chair that I owned for less than a month. The seat was broken and the particle board appeared old and reused, it was an oddly painted piece of material. It looked like someone ripped down the wall of a shack and made it the chair seat base. The seat was unstable due to the large crack throughout the entire piece of board. I am not sure how it could be returned since it is near impossible to remove the seat from the base once it is assembled. A terrible purchase that I regret. I know it is low cost, but I would suggest spending slightly more for another chair. I had to order a new chair that was only slightly more expensive so I could sit down.

Wonderful product
Color: Brown, Number of Items: 1, Color: Brown, Number of Items: 1
This chair offers good lumbar support and a well-padded seat. It has a very nice and smooth rocking motion, you can loosen the tight/loose knob for reclining, and it is very comfortable to sit in while working on the computer or relaxing to watch TV. The back of the chair hits just above my neck, so the back of my head rests comfortably on the top of the chair. The color, brown, is exactly what I expected and looks professional. The height adjustment works well, it sits higher than my old chair, and I like that. It seems sturdy for the 300-pound weight recommended. I got it on Prime Day, so it was a good value for the money. It came packed well and quicker than expected. The pictures are a comparison to my 20-year-old office chair. Assembling the chair was easy, however, be sure to attach the bottom part of the chair with the tight/loose knob facing the front of the chair. It's not clearly marked on the instructions. When it came time to put the back of the chair on it would be good to have another person to hold the chair back for you to align the chair arm holes and screw in, then you should be OK but I did discover that if I had attached the arms to the back of the chair first, it would be so much easier to align them for attachment. The wheels glide very easily and will take you across the room after one push. It swivels at 360 degrees easily, almost making me dizzy. I am writing this review the same day I got the chair so I will update if I run into any issues. Otherwise, I recommend this chair.
