This volume will convince readers that the swift ascent of the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons to worldwide popularity in the 1970s and 1980s is "the most exciting event in popular culture since the invention of the motion picture."
Dungeons and Dragons and Philosophy presents twenty-one chapters by different writers, all D&D aficionados but with starkly different insights and points of view. It will be appreciated by thoughtful fans of the game, including both those in their thirties, forties, and fifties who have rediscovered the pastime they loved as teenagers and the new teenage and college-student D&D players who have grown up with gaming via computer and console games and are now turning to D&D as a richer, fuller gaming experience.
The book is divided into three parts. The first, "Heroic Tier: The Ethical Dungeon-Crawler," explores what D&D has to teach us about ethics and about how results from the philosophical study of morality can enrich and transform the game itself. Authors argue that it's okay to play evil characters, criticize the traditional and new systems of moral alignment, and (from the perspective of those who love the game) tackle head-on the recurring worries about whether the game has problems with gender and racial stereotypes. Readers of Dungeons and Dragons and Philosophy will become better players, better thinkers, better dungeon-masters, and better people.
Part II, "Paragon Tier: Planes of Existence," arouses a new sense of wonder about both the real world and the collaborative world game players create. Authors look at such metaphysical questions as what separates magic from science, how we express the inexpressible through collaborative storytelling, and what the objects that populate Dungeons and Dragons worlds can teach us about the equally fantastic objects that surround us in the real world.
The third part, "Epic Tier: Leveling Up," is at the crossroads of philosophy and the exciting new field of Game Studies. The writers investigate what makes a game a game, whether D&D players are artists producing works of art, whether D&D (as one of its inventors claimed) could operate entirely without rules, how we can overcome the philosophical divide between game and story, and what types of minds take part in D&D.

Great rug, especially for the price!
Size: 30" X 20", Color: Black
This rug was perfect for our small bathroom. It acts as a rug for the toilet and for the bathtub at the same time. So far it is holding up nicely and has fantastic grip on our lvp flooring and is so soft on my feet! 10/10 would buy again!

Well-made liner that ‘s heavy & durable
Size: 72"W x 78"L (Pack of 1), Color: 1a. Clear
These Barossa Design Long Shower Curtain Liner is thick, sturdy, and looks and feels noticeably more durable than standard liners. The heavier weight helps it hang straight without clinging, giving the shower a clean, polished look. It does a great job keeping water contained, and the material feels strong enough to last through regular use without tearing or thinning out. The length is ideal for taller showers, adding extra coverage and protection.

Great Quality and Perfect for Creative Projector Effects
Size: 72"W x 72"L (Pack of 1), Color: 1a. Clear
Although designed as a shower curtain liner, I ended up using this for a completely different purpose and it worked perfectly. I placed it behind my study window as a projection screen for Halloween videos, and the results were fantastic. The material allowed the projector image to display clearly while still diffusing the light nicely for a great effect from outside. The quality was much better than expected, the material felt durable, and it was easy to position and work with. This product turned out to be incredibly versatile and offered excellent value for the money. If you enjoy creative decorating ideas or seasonal displays, this works brilliantly as an inexpensive projection screen alternative.

Perfect length and actually stays in place.
Size: 72"W x 75"L (Pack of 1), Color: 1a. Clear
This liner solved a problem I didn’t realize was bothering me until I switched to it. The extra length makes a big difference—no more water sneaking out onto the floor or the curtain riding up while you’re showering. It hangs nicely and gives a cleaner, more finished look compared to standard sizes. The material feels thicker than the cheap liners you usually find, but not overly stiff. It drapes well and doesn’t stick to you while showering, which is a big plus. The magnets at the bottom actually work and help keep it in place against the tub, especially if you have any airflow in the bathroom. Installation was simple and the reinforced holes seem durable enough to last. Overall, it just does what it’s supposed to do without any fuss. For the price, it’s a solid upgrade and something I’d definitely buy again.

Well made
Size: 72"W x 72"L (Pack of 1), Color: 1b. Clear-heavy
The magnets hold well. The grommets are sturdy. The plastic is a bit thick and doesn't like to lie flat against the tub so it is constantly brushing you while you shower.
