Arguing for Our Lives: A User's Guide to Constructive DialogWe live in a time when public discourse is more skewed than ever by the propaganda that big money can buy, with trust in the leadership of elected officials at an all time low. We live in a time when public discourse is more skewed than ever by the propaganda that big money can buy, with trust in the leadership of elected officials at an all-time low. The "news" has degenerated into sensationalist sound bites, and the idea of debate has become a polarized shouting match that precludes any meaningful discussion.

It's also a time of anxiety, as we're faced with economic and ecological crises on a global scale, with stakes that seem higher than ever before. In times like these, it's essential that we be able to think and communicate clearly.

In this lively primer on critical thinking, Robert Jensen attacks the problems head on and delivers an accessible and engaging book that explains how we can work collectively to enrich our intellectual lives. Drawing on more than two decades of classroom experience and community organizing, Jensen shares strategies on how to challenge "conventional wisdom" in order to courageously confront the crises of our times and offers a framework for channeling our fears and frustrations into productive analysis that can inform constructive action.

Jensen connects abstract ideas with the everyday political and spiritual struggles of ordinary people. Free of either academic or political jargon, this book is for anyone struggling to understand our world and contribute to making it a better place.

Robert Jensen is a professor in the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin and a founding board member of the Third Coast Activist Resource Center.

"At the moment, what passes for political debate is the bickering of two vociferous and wrong-headed parties. Robert Jensen reacquaints us with the political and social skills we'll need if we're to reclaim politics for the 21st century. This is a brave book, one that packs more wisdom in its few pages than a shelf's worth of political theory, because it's also a book about political practice. Jensen patiently, honestly, and rigorously exemplifies the highest virtues of a public intellectual."--Raj Patel, author of Stuffed and Starved: Markets, Power and the Hidden Battle for the World's Food System

"The first date or dinner party taboo is famous: 'No religion, no politics.' Debating, discussion, engagement with ideas that matter--these are all supposed to be left to professionals, specialists who talk to each other in mutually incomprehensible ways. Meanwhile decades of advertising, sound bites, PR, filtered information, and internet trolling have numbed us even more. But we don't have to live this way. We could immediately start living in a better world, one in which every conversation was an opportunity to learn more about ourselves, others, and the precious little world we all have to try to live on together. To do that, though, we would have to re-learn how to think and talk, how to agree and disagree. Robert Jensen's Arguing For Our Lives can help us do that."--Justin Podur, Associate Professor, York University and author of Haiti's New Dictatorship (Pluto Press 2012)

"Arguing for Our Lives is a crucial book for reclaiming not only the pedagogical and political virtues of critical thinking, but for securing the foundations for critical agency and engaged citizenship. This is an indispensable book for students, educators, and others willing to fight the current ongoing assault by religious, political, and moral fundamentalists on critical thought, if not reason itself, that has engulfed American politics. Everyone should read Arguing for Our Lives if they believe there is a connection between how we think and how we act, how we understand democracy and how we experience and struggle for it."--Henry Giroux, author of Twilight of the Social: Resurgent Politics in the Age of Disposability (Paradigm, 2012)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect for My Suit-Loving 9-Year-Old 🤍👔✨
My 9-year-old is obsessed with suits, and this one was a total win! 😍 The 3-piece set (blazer, vest, and pants) makes him feel so grown-up and confident. The linen material is lightweight and breathable, which is perfect for warm weather ☀️ — and it doesn’t wrinkle easily, which I appreciate as a parent 🙌. He loves that he can wear it different ways — full suit, just vest and pants, or blazer and pants. 👌 The fit looks sharp, and the adjustable waist is super helpful. Perfect for weddings, school events, church, or any time he wants to dress to impress. 💙 Definitely a favorite in our house! 🎉

Adorable special occasion suit for boys
Size: 5, Color: Light Blue, Size: 5, Color: Light Blue
I ordered this 3-piece suit for my son and even though it’s currently a little too big for him, I couldn’t resist keeping it because it’s absolutely adorable! The quality really impressed me right out of the package. The fabric feels lightweight and breathable, which will be perfect for warmer weather, and it has a nice polished look without feeling stiff. The set comes with a blazer, vest, and pants, and each piece is very well made. I love the little details like the lapel on the jacket, the adjustable strap on the vest, and the adjustable waist on the pants, which will definitely help as he grows. It looks like a much more expensive suit than it actually is. Even though my son will have to grow into it, I’m already excited for him to wear it. I’m thinking it will be perfect for Easter next year or any special occasion. It’s such a cute outfit, and I love that the pieces can be mixed and matched for different looks. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and can’t wait to see him wearing it! The blue color goes well for any occasion and I may have to order my husband a suit in matching shade of blue so they can be twins. The size looks accurate for boys 5T. I took a picture to show the pants next to a pair of unwashed Oshkosh B’Gosh brand straight leg 5T boys denim jeans.

Perfect Summer Suit for Boys – Stylish and Comfortable!
Size: 5, Color: Light Green
I’m so impressed with this **boys' linen summer suit**! 👔🌞 It’s the perfect outfit for warmer weather while still looking sharp and stylish. The **linen fabric** is lightweight and breathable, making it ideal for those hot summer days. My son looked fantastic in it, and he was comfortable all day long, which is a big plus! The suit fits **true to size**, and the cut is modern yet classic. The **jacket** has a great, tailored look without being too stiff, and the **trousers** are just the right fit—not too baggy or too tight. It’s a very **polished** look for events like weddings, family gatherings, or holiday parties. I also love that the **color options** are vibrant and fresh, perfect for summer. The suit is **easy to care for**—I was worried about linen wrinkles, but it’s held up well after a few washes, and the fabric still looks crisp. Overall, this **boys' linen summer suit** is an excellent purchase for any special occasion or just to make your little one look extra sharp during the summer months. **Comfortable, stylish, and durable**—highly recommend! 🌟👔
