Candlemass was formed by bassist & songwriter Leif Edling in Stockholm, Sweden & is well known for its epic & pioneering brand of Doom Metal, having a great influence over a generation of the genre's subsequent greats - Candlemass themselves taking a large influence from Black Sabbath. Featuring a string of legitimate timeless classic albums & a rich repertoire spanning multiple decades, Candlemass continues to impress to this day as true icons in the hallowed halls of Doom.
As the band approaches 40 years of existence, 'Witchcraft' goes back to the early beginnings of the Swedish Doom legends & contains their initial recordings under the Candlemass moniker. Even in these formative years, Edling & co demonstrate a clear vision of where this beast was heading, whilst already laying these strong foundations on the run up to the recording sessions for the monumental debut album, 1986's 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus'.
'Witchcraft' features the classic 1985 demo in full, plus also the O.A.L. studio demo recordings laid to tape later that same year.
