'Seaside' is a mix of original songs and covers broadly following a seashore theme, with sterling accompaniment comprising piano trio, guitar and brass. Liane brings a refreshing approach to Billie Holiday's 'I Cover The Waterfront', Kurt Weill's 'My Ship' and Nina Simone's 'Wild is the Wind', plus 'Almost Like Being In Love' - famous as the closing track to the blockbuster hit Groundhog Day. The title song, 'Seaside', was specially written for Liane by Joe Stilgoe which sees the singer return Liane's favour of guesting on his cover of Brian Wilson's 'I Just Wasn't Made For These Times' from his latest album 'New Songs For Old Souls'. The album reunites Liane with multi-GRAMMY nominated producer and trumpeter James McMillan who worked on her previous two albums. Liane's rhythm section comprises Malcolm Edmonstone (piano), Mark Edwards (piano), Ian Thomas (drums) and Steve Pearce (bass) with guest musicians Rob Luft (guitar) and Andy Wood (brass). Liane Carroll is a multi award-winning jazz singer described by Jamie Cullum as 'one of the greatest singers we have in this country'. Her awards include 'Best British Vocalist' (BBC Jazz Awards, 2005 & 2013), 'Best Female Jazz Vocalist' (Ronnie Scott's Awards, 2007) and 'Best Jazz Album of the Year' (Parliamentary Jazz Awards, 2013). A popular live performer, Liane has headlined at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club for over two decades, as well as performing at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival with her trio in a headline performance broadcast to over 300,000 listeners on BBC Radio 3.

a sweet romance read

if you're looking for something sweet and hopelessly romantic with yearning, look no further.
i enjoy a fake dating trope, but combine it with a longtime reunion w a former best friend who was an unrequited love and set it in nyc, and i'm eating it up.
The Lover and the Archer, they’d call it. The girl who kept falling in love, and the boy who could receive love from whomever he aimed his heart at.
i liked how dani was at school for fashion bc it took me back to my fashion construction class days in high school (honestly was SO lucky to have that) - it's a fun industry to explore as a career/study for fmc that i haven't really seen much. sometimes dani did have that "not like glamorous girls, i'm into vintage and different" thing going but it wasn't overwhelming.
I’d be lying if I said I never thought about where my hands would take me across your body.
levi was definitely a soft boy mmc, it was so clear he was head over heels for dani but it made them being ridiculous about each other funny and the tension heightened. also he writes POETRY in FRENCH?? hello, dreamboat!!! i do think the plotline of him and the ex bella could've been stronger esp as it fizzles out a bit but i didn't care for her character much anyways to begin with, so i'm not complaining lol.

there is a bit of grief dealt with as both dani and levi have lost their fathers, but it's not a main focus and doesn't overshadow the love story.
“You intoxicate me, Daisy. The scent of flowers lingers on you everywhere you go, and I always want to follow”
overall, it was a sweet romantic read and perfect for spring! ✿

The Yearning!

Loved this read! It was a great pallet cleanser after the normalization of “spice”.
Very cute moments, Levi is my ideal dream of a smart nerdy bf, I cried when I realized the lack of them in real life.
Dani’s internal struggle with insecurity is very realistic and made me reflect on my lived experiences (minus the romance unfortunately).
I did have my moments of rolling my eyes to the back skull at Dani being dense, but the ending made up for it!
