Lessons from a Streetwise Professor: What You Won't Learn at Most Music Schools was first published in 2011. It's a book that discusses contemporary issues in the real world of music, and the fact is, much has changed since then. An update was needed, so voil --the second addition. For this edition, I asked Steve Danyew to contribute. He's a former colleague at the Eastman School, and as a young person, he's up on all the latest and greatest happenings in the tech world. He's also a fine composer whose career is blossoming now.

What has changed in the last seven years that affects musicians? Certainly, the use of video has gone through the roof, not to mention social media, email marketing, Facebook ads, boosted posts, GoogleAdWords, and the list goes on. More and more musicians now publish their own music and recordings. The Internet has made it possible for them to side-step the big publishing houses and record labels. It's pretty much a "given" that musicians who are building solo careers must have a strong web presence. They connect with their fans and often use crowdfunding to raise money for projects. And since this is the real world in which we live, we have to talk about money. Changes made by Congress have impacted health care and taxes. Is it better or worse? The answer is, it depends. Each individual's personal circumstance will answer that question. Then there is the manner in which musicians are compensated for their creative work--copyright, royalties and now-digital royalties are being reexamined. These subjects are all addressed in this second edition.

What hasn't changed in the real-world music industry is the human dynamic. Audiences still stand and applaud a performance. They don't applaud their sound systems or playback devices. They appreciate and recognize excellence and quality. That is really the essence of this book. In my mind, in order to find success in music two conditions must dominate:

1. Do something you love and commit to quality; and

2. Get your message out and get noticed.

Here's hoping the pages in this second edition will help aspiring musicians and old pros alike do just that.

Good color, crappy pump
Color: Dark, Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Color: Dark, Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
It works! Put it in at 9 and rinsed off at 2 and the color was apparent. And I clearly need some practice applying with my mit as you can see in the photo haha! Only reason for docking is my pump won’t work. Won’t open up to pump so have to open the entire top and pour it out onto my mit which is annoying. There also is definitely a self tanning scent that is very notable so if you get this thinking there is no smell- you’d be wrong. I wouldn’t wear it out in public

Helped My Texture & Pores So Much
Size: 2.03 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I bought this mainly to help with skin texture and the appearance of my pores, and it has honestly worked really well. After using it consistently, my skin feels noticeably smoother and looks more refined overall. I’ve especially noticed a difference around areas where I tend to have larger pores and uneven texture. My skin looks softer, more even, and makeup applies much more smoothly now. The serum itself feels lightweight, absorbs nicely, and doesn’t leave my skin sticky or greasy. It layers well with the rest of my skincare routine and hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin at all. I also love that the jumbo size lasts a long time, so it feels like a really good value for the amount you get. Definitely happy with this purchase and would repurchase again!

Surprisingly Effective – Smoother, Firmer, More Hydrated Skin!!!
Size: 1.01 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Size: 1.01 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I decided to try the FRANKLY Closer Serum after seeing it listed as Amazon’s Choice and noticed it had been purchased 6K+ times in the past month  and I can see why! This serum has been a great addition to my skincare routine. The texture is lightweight and absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky residue. It feels hydrating right away, and over time, I’ve noticed my skin looks smoother and more refined, especially around my pores and T-zone. It doesn’t clog pores, which is important for my acne-prone skin, and it layers well under makeup or sunscreen. I appreciate the powerhouse ingredients like 9 peptides, vegan collagen, adenosine, and PHA  they’ve helped improve my skin’s elasticity and texture without irritation. The glow is real, and I can see that “glass skin” look starting to come through with consistent use. The 1.01 fl oz size may seem small, but a little goes a long way. The pump bottle is hygienic and easy to use, and the overall packaging feels clean and modern. If you’re looking for a gentle, multi-tasking anti-aging and pore-refining serum, this one is a great value  and it lives up to the hype.

The best pore reducer, even on older complexions!
Size: 2.03 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Nothing has ever worked reducing my enlarged cheek and nose pores over the years. Now I've finally found something that works. By the second day there was noticeable results and by the end of the first week even the small wrinkles under my eyes was gone! I use it with my normal skin care routine but I won't do without this again.

Good and Hydrated
Size: 1.01 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
It’s very good and hydrates very well. Not a fast or much improvement on pores. But very good to hydrate your skin.
