  Much like the Super Cub and Super Decathlon are more feature-rich and powerful versions of their original version, the E-flite® Super Timber® 1.7m is the ultimate step up from the world's most popular Timber models. Not only is it larger than previous Timber models, it is also equipped with even more "super" features and capabilities that set it apart from all other versions - including air-filled tires with beadlock rims, a robust shock-absorbing chassis and Slats that install in seconds without glue and are easily removed, a tool-free wing and tail mount, and more. It's the most feature-rich, capable and best-flying Timber model ever, excelling across the entire spectrum of flight, from slow cruising to sport and aerobatics. Of course, it also boasts the incredible STOL capabilities that Timber Design is known for.

  Overview

  The E-flite Super Timber 1.7m is equipped with a long list of “super” features that make it the most feature-rich and high-performance Timber ever! Starting with air-filled Tundra tires on unique beadlock rims, mounted on a robust, forward-angled, shock-absorbing chassis to prevent rollovers. It is the best and strongest landing gear ever installed on a Timber model to provide maximum durability and STOL capability when flying over almost any terrain! The optionally usable slats can be clicked in without glue and then removed again in a matter of seconds. As expected, there is also LED lighting, which has been supplemented with additional position and landing lights for better visibility. The horizontal stabilizer halves lock into place when plugged in and the pluggable wing halves with self-connecting servo connectors are secured with innovative wing locking mechanisms, so no tools are required for assembly/disassembly. There's even a specially designed clip in the fuselage that holds the extension tube so you never forget it when transporting the model! The digital servos with metal gears enable precise and reliable control of the oversized control surfaces. For additional rudder effect, the landing flaps, which can deflect in both directions, can also be used as ailerons.

  A custom-tuned motor is matched to an exclusive 85A Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC that delivers a variety of propulsion system telemetry data in real time via compatible receivers using smart and non-smart batteries (including the AR637TA installed in the BNF® Basic version; in combination with Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters). The BNF® Basic version is equipped with an AR637TA receiver that provides comprehensive real-time telemetry data, including total battery voltage, ESC temperature and more. In addition, the receiver offers engine thrust reversal for special ground handling maneuvers and the advantages of AS3X® and the optional SAFE® Select technology. The Super Timber 1.7m also features a large upper fuselage cover for quicker and easier battery changes using a quick-release battery compartment that allows multiple positions to accommodate most 4S to 6S 3200-5000mAh batteries. You even have the option to mount floats (sold separately) to fly from ponds and lakes! All of these great details and features make this Timber the most versatile, everyday and aerobatic STOL model (Short Take Off and Landing) for a wide range of pilots.

  Skill Level 2 – Some experience required

  Skill Level 2 aircraft like this are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, program and fly similar class models. And although this BNF Basic version is equipped with the optional SAFE Select, it is not a suitable first RC aircraft for beginners or a “next step after a trainer” model for RC pilots with little flying experience. You should have the necessary experience to fly medium-sized STOL-capable models such as the E-flite Timber X 1.2m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, Twin Timber 1.6m, or other similar class models before flying this model.

   

  Exclusive technologies

  This model is equipped with the exclusive AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes, compensating for the effects of wind and turbulence, so you can enjoy precise, stable flight despite adverse conditions and feel like you're flying a much larger, perfectly tuned aircraft. The optional SAFE® Select offers you lean angle limits as well as automatic self-leveling that can be switched on and off with a switch to make taking off, landing and flying easier.

   

  Smart technology

  Both the PNP and BNF Basic versions of the Super Timber 1.7m are equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian 85A Smart Lite controller. This enables the transmission of a range of propulsion-relevant real-time data in flight, such as engine speed, current flow, battery voltage and more when using a compatible receiver (such as the AR637TA in the BNF Basic Version) and remote controls that have Spektrum AirWare™ (such as the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to iX20 and others). The controller also has other features such as engine thrust reversal for special maneuvers on the ground.

   

  Great power

  The factory-installed Spektrum brushless outrunner motor is 4S - 6S compatible and offers a wide range of performance - from sport flying with simple aerobatics using 4S batteries to torqueing and unlimited vertical climb performance with 6S batteries! The practical, top-mounted and magnetically secured fuselage cover as well as a quick-change battery compartment with multiple positions make it easier to change standard 3200-5000mAh batteries.

   

  Super multi-faceted

  Double-beveled, centrally hinged rudders enable a large deflection of all rudder surfaces in both directions for excellent rudder effect and the best aerobatic properties. In addition, the flaps can deflect in either direction to enable optional full-span aileron function for even more aggressive maneuvers. Or you can simply switch to small swings to fly relaxed and as tamely as you want.

   

  Super STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing)

  The dropped wing design has a longer span and more wing area than the Timber X 1.2m and Turbo 1.5m models, and can be fitted with the included optional slats to improve STOL and low speed flight characteristics. The slats snap into place for easy installation without glue or tools - and can also be easily uninstalled in seconds! These features, along with the lightweight design, oversized flaps and powerful brushless propulsion system, make it possible to literally jump into the air or land in just a few meters.

   

  Super versatile chassis

  From thick grass to gravel and dirt paths to local lakes and ponds, the Super Timber 1.7m lets you fly easily from these and many other surfaces. The heavy-duty, shock-absorbing chassis is angled forward to prevent rollovers. This makes it the best and strongest chassis installed in a Timber model to date! It also features tundra-style air-filled rubber tires (air pump included) mounted on unique beadlock rims to absorb any imperfections from rough surfaces. Additional hardware is also included to mount the optional float kit (EFLA550; sold separately), which features a water rudder for excellent steering control. Whichever suspension option you choose, both are easy to install and can be replaced in minutes!

   

  Super easy assembly

  No glue is required for assembly and the Super Timber can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The horizontal stabilizer halves lock into place and the plug-in wing halves with self-connecting servo connectors are secured with an innovative locking mechanism, so no fasteners or tools are required for assembly/disassembly. Additionally, a specially designed clip in the fuselage holds the wing tuck tube so you'll never forget it when the wing has been removed for more convenient storage or transport!

   

  Super durable

  The composite reinforced hollow core construction made from EPO material ensures a lightweight yet durable airframe. And the factory-installed digital servos with metal gears are precise, durable and reliable. In the unfortunate event that you damage aircraft parts or components and are unable to repair them, a full range of replacement parts is available.

   

  Great lighting

  Like most other Timber models, the Super Timber is equipped with realistic-looking LED landing, navigation and strobe lights that are factory installed and powered by the flight battery. It even has additional position and landing lights for better visibility!

  Bind-N-Fly ^® Benefits

  Do you already own a Spektrum ^™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) models allow you to get into the air faster than ever before. They come with the drive system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4 GHz receiver installed. So all you have to do is connect the receiver to a compatible transmitter, complete the final assembly and you can fly!

  This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4 GHz DSMX ^® receiver with AS3X ^® (Artificial Stabilization - 3-aXis) technology, which works behind the scenes to compensate for the effects of wind and turbulence gives you a feeling of stability and precision as if you were flying a much larger, perfectly tuned model aircraft.

  If this is your first model of this type or you need additional safety margins to familiarize yourself with the aircraft, you can activate the optional SAFE ^® Select attitude stabilization technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change the bind process as described in the manual.

  
  

  With SAFE Select enabled, you get:

  Transverse and longitudinal axes restriction

  • In this mode, movement around the transverse and longitudinal axes is restricted and prevents the model from turning onto its back. It also prevents climbs or descents that are too steep

  Automatic alignment

  • The model automatically returns to a normal level flight attitude when the sticks are released. This feature is also helpful during takeoffs and landings to keep the surfaces level.

  Easy switch assignment - no programming required.

  • The process of assigning a switch on the transmitter to the SAFE Select function is very simple, requires no programming and can be completed in just a few seconds.

  If you don't want to use SAFE Select, all you have to do is bind the receiver normally and only AS3X remains active.
