HISTORY OF A LEGENDARY SHIP: CUTTY SARK'S MODEL
Discover the Cutty Sark, wooden model of this legendary ship -tea clipper class- of the XIXth Century. Built for the tea race and one of the fastest ships of its time, it is preserved as a museum vessel in the town of Greenwich, United Kingdom. Launched in Dumbarton (Scotland) in 1869, Cutty Sark was dedicated in his early years to the tea race, trying to unite China and London in the shortest possible time during eight 'tea seasons'.
In the same year of its launch, the Suez Canal was opened, which made the route much shorter and gave advantage to steamers. It was possible to cross the Suez Canal for a sailboat, but it was difficult and expensive, conditions for sailing in the Red Sea are far from ideal. Later it would be dedicated to the trade of wool from Australia, being the fastest boat in these routes during a decade, and it also would be used for the transport of goods between Porto, Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, Lisbon and the Portuguese colonies. Finally, in 1954 it would be transferred to dry dock and become a museum ship.

Build your 1/84 scale wooden model ship of the Cutty Sark, legendary clipper. The model of this beautiful sailboat has a system of construction by means of false keel and frames, reason why the assembly of the replica to scale approaches the construction of the real clipper.
The Cutty Sark ship model kit contains high precision laser cut board parts, hardwoods, brass, cast iron and fabric. For the assembly you will be able to follow our complete full colour step-by-step guide in 7 languages, accompanied by the drawings of the ship when it’s finished, both of them on DVD format for computer (Windows and Mac). The kit does not include printed instructions.
Once it is built, this faithful miniature replica measures 40.62'' (1,032mm) length, 13.77'' (350mm) width and 24.56'' (624mm) height.
