The Maxwell Land Grant was an immense parcel of land in New Mexico and Colorado with a history that began when the area was a colony of Spain and ended only in the twentieth century. In this volume, published originally in an edition of 250 numbered and signed copies, F. Stanley (Father Stanley Francis Louis Crocchiola) takes on the task of telling the complex story. In his foreword, Stanley says: "Look in vain for another section of land in the nation that produced so much comment from the press or absorbed the attention of the entire world. Because of this bit of land a Supreme Court Justice almost lost his life; a president of the United States wanted to horse-whip a man; a minister was looked upon as a killer; a cattle man became a killer; vigilantes rode into the night burning and killing; and the Anti-Grant War was waged in two states taking more lives than the Lincoln County War that brought Billy the Kid his fame." Stanley has been faulted for his scholarship and for stylistic flaws that are probably reflections of the speed it took him to publish the amazing number of books and pamphlets he produced. His narrative is chatty and anecdotal, with few of the accoutrements of establishment history. Still, he has mined newspapers, trial transcripts, and a variety of documents to produce a broad account of the area. He includes chapters on ghost towns as well as "living" towns, the railroads, Indians on the grant, and a full chapter on Clay Allison, whom Stanley regarded as a more interesting character than Billy the Kid. The original edition is probably the scarcest of Stanley's books. "An easterner by birth but a southwesterner at heart, Father Stanley Francis Louis Crocchiola had as many vocations as names," says his biographer, Mary Jo Walker. "As a young man, he entered the Catholic priesthood and for nearly half a century served his church with great zeal in various capacities, attempting to balance the callings of teacher, pastor, historian and writer." With limited money or free time, he also managed to write and publish one hundred and seventy-seven books and booklets pertaining to his adopted region under his "nom de plume," F. Stanley, The initial in that name does not stand for Father, as many have assumed, but for Francis, which Louis Crocchiola took, with the name Stanley, at the time of his ordination as Franciscan friar in 1938. All of F. Stanley's titles have now reached the status of expensive collector's items.Binding Type: Paperback

New Look, Same Timex
Color: Black, Color: Black
Long time wearer of Timex Ironman watches and the T200 is among the best. Stylish, comfortable and dependable. This watch is exactly as described and I know it will make a reliable time piece for years to come.

Love Time
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
I love this watch 😍 I usually get the smaller gray/black one. Though this one is A LOT bigger than I expected. Not remembering the size of my wrist, plus the old saying is ... Why do women have a hard time telling distance ? Because we were told this 🤏was six inches long 🤣. The color wasn't quite how I thought it would be either, so that through me off a bit. I love the colors & I have been wearing Timex Iron Man watches for 37 yrs. I will not wear anything else. They'll last for years. Once the battery dies, I just get a new one. I also wear mine almost 24/7. I discovered these when I was 18 & needed a good watch for work (food service) whitch take a lot of beating. What's the old saying ? Time takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It's so true!!! I did try a couple before my Timex Iron Man, yeah, Nope. Timex is the best !!

Reliable watch, bad shipping
Color: Pink
I have had a couple other Timex watches. My 1st lasted many years before it quit working. This watch is my 3rd. My 2nd Timex still works but was smaller than I prefer so I bought this one. I'd have given this one 5 stars if it had arrived on time and not had made my subscription order arrive late as well because my items ship to arrive on a set day. My auto ship happened to be when I ordered this watch. I was given a tracking # for USPS at first, to arrive on October 27. Then got notification it would arrive the 28th, THEN got an email saying November 2nd and coming by UPS. It arrived 4 days after it was supposed to. The watch is good, but the shipping was not.

Nice looking, easy to read, comfortable silicone strap, hard to buckle.
Color: Black
This watch has all the features other Ironman watches have plus a 100 lap interval timer. The interval timer is possibly the reason this watch is slightly more expensive than the other IM variants with the same size and general appearance. I find this watch to be nicer looking when going out to dinner than the more common multi-colored IM watches, though most of the functions are available on the others.
My previous Ironman watch had a resin strap, which was somewhate stiff when putting it on. It was comfortable enough wearing on the river, but later in the day I sometimes took it off for comfort. This watch has a soft, stretchy, more comfortable silicone strap, that, sadly, is hard to buckle and tuck-in.
