Carved from the wilderness, it was envisioned in 1905 by Charles Hays,Manager of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway that this northern BC city would rival that of Vancouver in just a few short years.

From the first landing of surveyors on the shores of Kaien Island, to the construction of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway,"Knoxville" wars, building of the townsite on "stilts and planks", development of a huge fishing industry and port. This volume leads you through an era of human struggle, determination and dreams of what the future could bring.

It is the amazing story of Prince Rupert and its pioneers between 1905 and 1914,who battled against all odds to develop this unique northern community.

I received the black patent leather shoes today and they are so cute! Sadly I need to return them because they are cut way too small. I normally wear a 7.5 or 8 on dress shoes so I ordered the 8. They are so tight across the top that it's uncomfortable as soon as I put them on. They are smaller than a normal size 8 dress shoe. The big toe area is extremely uncomfortable because it doesn't allow any room for it at all, so my big toe just presses against the side and end of the shoe without even walking in them. I have very narrow feet and these still are too small for me. So I am returning them and I already ordered a 8.5 W and hope that will fit much better. The patent leather is very cute and adds just enough dressy that I can wear them with slacks or my Capri jeans. I like the slip on and the cushion foot bed because it feels soft.
