Artists that aren’t bound by any genre can do it all. We listen to whatever we want, we make whatever we want, we are whoever we want to be.”
They sound like big words from Nyrobi until you hear Rave Immortal, the debut album by ALT BLK ERA, the duo she formed with her sister Chaya in Nottingham in the later stages of lockdown.

Fearlessly bold in its vision and unbridled in its execution, this is an album seized by the shock of the urgent, an expression of defiant intention to be seen and heard and never again to be overlooked. Its ten bangers-in-waiting came to life during a whirlwind six-day recording session overseen by Natt Webb at RatCat Studios (The Struts, King Blonde).

The MOBO-nominated ALT BLK ERA are not just unbound by genre, they run circles around them. Listen to Rave Immortal and you hear the alt-metal of ‘Come on Outside’ rub shoulders with the earth-rumbling drum’n’bass pound of ‘Crashing Parties’. ‘Hunt You Down’ imagines a darkwave underworld version of Billie Eilish, while brash punk rap hyperfuels ‘Come Fight Me For It’. The dexterity is eye-watering even before you learn that the sisters are only 20 and 17 years old.

If the duo's taut, tinderbox energy seems to scream with a frenetic need to maximise their every second, then there is a reason for that. In late 2020, Nyrobi was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, leaving her constantly tired and in acute pain.
Amid a distressing time, the one salvation proved to be an online music course suggested to her by her mother. Attending twice a week alongside Chaya, it offered Nyrobi a focal point to her new life, a reason to take on the pain and get out of bed. The sisters reconnected in a profound way. Before long, they were writing songs together.

For a while, the sisters chose to hide the illness, fearful that the music industry would discriminate against them. But, true to the ALT BLK ERA philosophy, they have seized control of that narrative and are now proud to speak openly about the condition, in the hope that it will allow others to share their own hidden struggles. And woe betide anyone who is thinking about judging them for it.

Good Watch; Bad Strap
Color: Blue/Black
The watch is like many other I've worn, Timex included, and has all the features I want in a standard watch. I like the colors which are very similar to my last Timex which I've had to abandon due to failure of the wrist band after many years of daily use and the dearth of stores which replace straps. The watch itself is reliable and works well, but I do not like the velcro strap. I have very small wrists and searched a lot before deciding on this watch with an adjustable strap unhindered by the placement of buckle and holes. However, the strap is still too big to fit me well and it is tedious to align both sides of the velcro. Also, the velcro will catch my sleeves or other parts of my clothing every now and then and is avoidable only through meticulous placment of the two sides of velcro. I myself can't replace a strap with a better one because I don't know how, but if you can and have large enough wrists, then this may be the watch for you. If the manufacture or anyone else knows where one can purchase a small wrist band where the sellers will remove the one that I now have with a new, better fitting one, I wish there were a way that you could tell me. I do wish the watch were flatter because my sleeves are hard to move back and forth over it and it's also in the way of typing on my computer as well as tucking sheets in between mattress and headboard. (I can't rate the light because I haven't yet looked for the switch, and its water resistance I can't comment upon because I have not and will not subject the watch to water.)

Good Sport Watch
Color: Blue/Black
This is a good sport watch. I wear these to work in all sorts of conditions...and they take a beating. I have to get the unisex watches/bands as I have thick wrists for a woman and women's watchbands generally don't fit me. I can't wear the metal watch bands because when I flex my wrist they break. I can't wear the leather bands because when I sweat the band just deteriorates and falls apart. These woven bands are just perfect. I also like that it is velcro. That way you can adjust it perfectly to your wrist. I have worn these watches for nearly 15 years. It has two time functions - so that you can have regular time and maybe the time in another country. It has a split lap stop watch so that you can time each lap as well as your full run. Time, date, alarm, and hour beep if you so desire. It also has a back light which is really handy to tell time in the dark. Only problem with that is at about the year mark, the battery is so low that the light will come on, but the numbers disappear. But, well, it is what it is. Some reviewers have complained that the band is rather small fitting around the wrist. I am a woman and I bought a womans Timex once. The band was EXTREMELY small and barely fit me at all. It would come off a lot of the time because there was barely any velcro to wrap around. This watch is probably more of a unisex watch. Not a woman's per se, but not a big man's watch either. It is about in the middle. I have a 7.5" wrist and that is about as large of a wrist that this watch will fit. The women's watch that I had previously had would only fit a 7" wrist.

Great no frills watch, love it.
Color: Blue/Black
This watch is a really nice and is perfect for me. It tells the time (duh!), the date and has a stopwatch feature I never use. Mostly I like that it is a no frills product, but it does its job. This is great for people that actually want something that tells the time and not some fancy gold bracelet to impress the ladies. Although I spend most of my time in front of a computer, I imagine this piece would be great for someone with an active lifestyle (biking, running, etc.). The watch itself is mostly plastic and watch-proof and the band is a fabric velcro. For a while I had the older model with a rubber strap and I like this new model much better. The strap is comfortable and easy to take on and off. I wish the strap was a little bigger though, it might be too small for someone with really fat arms. It does have an indiglo feature although I had the older model and the indiglo died after like 6 months. Hopefully this one will last. What can I say, its a watch. If you are looking for something simple with a classic design, look no further.

Everything I expected.
Color: Black/Red
Not the watch I would want as an adult but fits my son perfectly. It’s durable, red and makes him happy. It should last him until he is old enough to get a job and make his own style and life choices.

Timex now poor quality
Color: Blue/Black
These watches used to last me years. The past two of these have died in under 6 months. Worthless junk. Will avoid Timex from now on. A single drop of water and the button sends the watch into black screen and reset.
