This second edition is updated throughout, incorporating exciting new research and satellite imagery. Written for general readers, it offers a comprehensive overview of these intriguing earthworks. Citing evidence from past excavations, ethnography, the traditions of present-day Native Americans in the Midwest, ground-penetrating radar and LIDAR imaging, and recent findings of other archaeologists, Robert A. Birmingham and Amy L. Rosebrough argue that effigy mound groups are cosmological maps that model belief systems and relations with the spirit world. The authors advocate for their preservation and emphasize that Native peoples consider the mounds sacred places. Miracle cream!
This cream is unbelievable. goes in instantly, makes hands soft after one application and creates a barrier to protect your hands against cold and water. I live in VT and have tried numerous "extreme" hand creams that are heavy and greasy and useless~ this one is the best. I also like that it is fragrance-free except for that mild "Avene" spring water smell. I have two tubes, one for my night table and one next to the kitchen sink. I am 47 and have tried numerous face and body products`` you could say I used to be a "junkie" :) but I always come back to Avene. I have extremely sensitive skin and Avene products are a life saver.

My 75 year old hands appear softer and younger!
Avene Cicalfate Restorative Hand cream leaves my hands feeling very soft! A little goes a long way, I have had mine for a year. Soon I will be purchasing another tube. Yes, it is a little pricey for a hand cream, but does the job better then any other product I have used on my hands. Highly recommend this hand cream if you have dry, sensitive skin. It also has no added fragrance which I really appreciate!

Excellent product at a very good price. I will buy it again.
This is an excellent product at a fair price. The cream creates a barrier that protects the skin, while mosturizes it. leaves hands very soft, and it doesn't feel greasy. I know that this is a favorite brand (Avene) in France, and Amazon offers it at a very good price. I will buy it again, from Amazon. I bought it this year in Paris, and it was more expensive there.

Drying formula and smell bad
