Septuagenarian Brazilian music icon Elza Soares teams up with the cream of São Paulo's avant-garde musicians for an album of apocalyptic, experimental samba sujo ("dirty samba") that tackles the burning issues of 21st century Brazil: racism, domestic violence, sex, drug addiction and global warming. The Woman at the end of the World is Elza's 34th studio album and her first to feature previously unrecorded material, exclusively composed for her. Voted "Best Album of 2015" by Rolling Stone Brazil after it's domestic release, it will now be released worldwide by UK based label Mais Um Discos on May 20. Over a sprawl of distorted guitars, squalling horn, taught strings and electronic shards, samba is savaged by rock 'n' roll, free jazz, noise and other experimental music forms. A true legend of Brazilian music Elza has an incredible musical oeuvre that stretches back over seven decades mixing samba with jazz, soul, funk, hip hop and electronica, whilst her life story is a rags-to-riches-to-rags rollercoaster of triumphs and tragedies that has made her a voice for Brazil's repressed female, black, gay and working class populations. Her music career began in the late 1950s as she sung in clubs and hotels, sometimes being forced to perform off stage because of her skin color. The '60s was a career defining period with a run of classic albums for Odeon. After decades of hardships and artistic exploration, her latest muse is São Paulo's hyped samba sujo scene. Soares presents an album that walks a tightrope between post-rock and post-samba. "I knew this album would be a bold, modern sound" she says. "These songs are tense they do not allow you to relax". The album opens with "Coracão do Mar (Heart of the Sea)" with Elza reciting a poem from celebrated Brazilian modernist poet Oswald de Andrade. Title track "Mulher do fim do Mundo" uses carnival as a metaphor for the apocalypse and according to composer Romulo Froes "translates Elza's strength and indestructability". With The Woman at the End of the World, Elza forces the joy and sadness that personifies samba to confront the dirty truths of modern day São Paulo.

Perfect office/work USBC monitor with (finally) enough USB ports for your mouse, keyboard, webcam.

This is an office monitor NOT a gaming monitor. If you understand that you will be very happy.
I spent absolute ages looking for a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ultrawide monitor for work that has a built in USB hub. There is nothing more convenient than just plugging a laptop into a USB-C and getting power and all peripherals connected. Gamers will tell you to get a KVM and dock and all kinds of other stuff and they're not wrong but when you're working a 9-5 in tech simplicity and convenience are king.
There are a lot of good options for ultrawides from LG and other brands that do this, but for some insane reason they only have two USB ports in their built-in hub. I need ports for my mouse, keyboard, webcam, potentially usb dongle headset. Need 4 ports. This is literally the only option with more than 2 ports for under $800. And it's waaay under $800. And it's great. It has auto dimming which is wonderful and the stronger curve of the monitor is fantastic for being a medium distance away. The 100hz is just icing . Is it as good as 144hz? nah. But for productivity work it's really really good. Everything you need and then some.
It has kind of adjustable height with the stand. You can choose between three heights. So no adjustment on the fly. But that's alright.
So - if you're looking for the best USBC monitor to connect all your stuff to so you can just plug in your work laptop for a budget.. This is it.
The negative reviews here so far are people looking for a gaming monitor or someone who doesn't know how to adjust their operating system scaling.

Works with Mac!

This monitor is great. I was suprised on how light it was, as I have a large Asus monitor that is very heavy. I am very happy with quality and it works great with a Mac.

Just a great monitor

What a difference. I purchased this screen to replace an older screen. I knew I would see some differences as the screen was a larger size. What I did not expect was the picture quality. It is exceptional. The colors appear to be accurate. Based on the build quality I expect it to be very durable. It has been very capable of running my games.

Didn’t power on, still waiting. . .

I received this brand new monitor. It would not power on Amazon did not have any more in stock so it was sent directly to the manufacturer for repair. They have had it for two weeks and are going to have it for another one to two weeks before shipping it back to me and hopefully I’ll actually get to try it out I really hope it’s worth it in the end! Seriously frustrating that a brand new monitor would not even turn on and it’s gonna be at least a month before I even get to try it.
