Description

Blackmagic Design Spares - ATEM 1M/E Prod Studio 4K - PCB MainThe Blackmagic Design Spares ATEM 1 M E Production Studio 4K Main PCB is the foundational "brain" of the 1RU switcher. While the Mezzanine PCB (which sits on top of it) handles the physical BNC and HDMI jacks, the Main PCB handles the heavy lifting: video processing, the 4K switching matrix, and the Ethernet communication logic. Because this unit is a "4K" model, the Main PCB is packed with high performance FPGAs designed to handle 6G SDI bandwidths.

The Blackmagic Design Spares - ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K - Main PCB is the foundational "brain" of the 1RU switcher. While the Mezzanine PCB (which sits on top of it) handles the physical BNC and HDMI jacks, the Main PCB handles the heavy lifting: video processing, the 4K switching matrix, and the Ethernet communication logic.

Because this unit is a "4K" model, the Main PCB is packed with high-performance FPGAs designed to handle 6G-SDI bandwidths.

Core Responsibilities

  • System Logic: Houses the central processor and memory that runs the ATEM firmware.

  • Ethernet & USB-C: Manages the communication stack for the ATEM Software Control and the Setup Utility.

  • Video Processing Engine: Performs the actual "Mix/Effects" (M/E) logic, including Chroma Keyers, the DVE engine, and the Media Pool.

  • Multiview Generation: Aggregates all 10 inputs and the program/preview feeds into the single Multiview output signal.

  • Audio Mixing: Processes the Fairlight audio engine logic for all SDI/HDMI embedded audio and the balanced XLR inputs.

When to Replace the Main PCB

  • "No Link" / Network Failure: The unit powers on, and you might even see video passing through, but it is impossible to connect via Ethernet or USB, and the IP address cannot be found.

  • Boot Stalling: The front panel "On Air" or "Power" lights illuminate, but the unit never fully "wakes up" or outputs a Multiview signal.

  • Media Pool Corruption: The switcher constantly "forgets" uploaded graphics or the graphics appear with digital "noise" or artifacts (indicating failing VRAM on the Main PCB).

  • Total Processing Crash: The unit works for a few minutes, then the video freezes while the physical buttons remain lit, often a sign of an FPGA or thermal failure on the motherboard.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 5 (Expert). 1. The "Total Teardown": To reach the Main PCB, you must first remove the Mezzanine (I/O) PCB and the Internal Power Supply.

2. Pin Alignment: The Main PCB has dozens of female pin headers that receive the Mezzanine board. When reassembling, if even one pin is bent, the unit may short-circuit or fail to see specific SDI inputs.

3. Thermal Management: The 4K processing chips on this board are notorious for running hot. You must ensure the large thermal pads are clean and properly seated against the bottom of the metal chassis to use the case as a heatsink.

4. MAC Address Reset: Replacing this board changes the MAC address of your switcher. You will likely need to re-assign its static IP address in the ATEM Setup Utility once the new board is installed.

Diagnostic: Main PCB vs. Mezzanine PCB

  • Main PCB Fault: The unit is "dead" to the software, won't update firmware, or the Multiview UI is missing/garbled.

  • Mezzanine PCB Fault: The software works and you can see the Multiview grid, but the camera windows are all "Black" or "No Signal."

Pro-Tip: Before replacing the Main PCB for a "dead" unit, try a Recovery Mode flash. Power the unit off, hold the 'SET' button (or 'SRC 1' depending on the exact build) on the front panel, and plug in the power. If the ATEM Setup Utility sees it as "Switcher in Recovery Mode," the hardware might be fine and just needs a software re-load.

Are you dealing with a unit that won't connect to the network, or are you seeing "glitches" in your digital effects and keys?

keeps the remote from escaping between the couch cushions.
It is NOT glow in the dark. It's a nice blue and has a comfortable grip and it's cheap but not as advertised.

Not Floresent
The remote control cover fits ideally on the remote for the Apple remote but it’s not fluorescent the color is very dull I didn’t bother sending it back because it’s really not worth it for what I paid for these basically this little remote cover just protects the remote from getting damaged .

I'm impressed! Simple but quite effective, affordable, properly designed
Color: Walnut Wood
I normally don't review items unless I am very impressed or feel I need to review to warn others of a particularly poor product. In this case I am highly impressed! Great price (compare to others made from plastic), well designed and quality construction. Simple but quite effective. Quality wood support, smooth sanded and beautifully finished.. The wood support is designed and created to properly support headphones without damage to the headband as a simple hook or peg design might I have a home recording studio and don't want some cheap shlopck headphone holder to damage my $300 headphones in any way. This support is very reasonably priced, and offers 2 ways to mount. Included double sided self adhesive or using a screw through the hole at the top of the metal bracket. Screw mounting hardware is included. The metal bar used is incredibly robust but is well suited aesthetically to complement the wood rest. I would recommend to my friends or anyone who wants a quality, I expensive, and affection headphones holder. Don't hesitate to purchase, you won't be sorry!
