From June 1999 to June 2000 Cory McCulloch and Jamie Stewart (founding members of Xiu Xiu) were in a band called Ten in the Swear Jar along with Don Dias (Don Diasco), Tim Kirby and Kurt Stumbaugh (Master of the Bump, Kurt Stumbaugh I Can Feel the Soil Falling Over My Head). This is a complete collection of all the music they recorded at the trash dump house where Cory and Jamie lived, Fort Awesome. Two of these songs, Sad Girl as Sad Pony Guerilla Girl and I Love the Valley as I Luv the Valley OH!, were re-arranged and re-recorded by Xiu Xiu and they became two of the bands best known works. Lyrics from House Quake II and Hot Karl were re-purposed for the Xiu Xiu song, Pink City.

These songs are from two self released EPs, My Very Private Map and Inside the Computer are All My Feelings and an unreleased EP Eat Death, Orphans! Ten in the Swear Jar played maybe 14 or 15 shows total mostly in the Bay Area.

Before Xiu Xiu, Jamie Stewart fronted a project called Ten in the Swear Jar (XITSJ). The songs are very much so Jamie Stewart written but with all the excellent musicians that made up the band & the songs being written long ago they feel focused, melodic and quite impressive. This is not music to ignore but rather is music to engage with. You will not be disappointed.
