Carol and Scott Blackard started their marriage in the tumultuous Õ60s and have thrived through a stint in the Peace Corps, teaching careers, CarolÕs career change to medicine, the nurturing of two boys and finally retirement to the far flung corners of the avian world. Sitting down to chat with them, we focused on tales of the early days, of campus life at Kansas University, of awkward glances across crowded rooms, of stolen ducks, of shared telephones and shared tropical infections. We learned that even after 50 years of marriage, there is more to learn about this amazing couple and that they are still eager to learn about each other and the world around them. This book is an opportunity to listen in on that conversation as well as memories shared by longtime friends and beloved family.
