COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Human Resource Management Practice course. This program will equip you with a solid understanding of how Human Resource Management (HRM) has evolved into a central strategic discipline that shapes organisational performance, employee capability, operational culture and long-term sustainability. The course provides an examination of HRM definitions, theories, ethical considerations and strategic applications, enabling you to work confidently with modern HR concepts across diverse industry contexts.

This course begins by exploring what human resource management is and the many definitions that distinguish HRM from traditional personnel administration. This section outlines the objectives of HRM, the HRM policy goals and how HRM expands beyond administrative functions to encompass strategic alignment, organisational development, capability enhancement and the creation of a positive work environment.

The next learning area examines the major theories of HRM, including the influential work of David Guest and Boselie et al. This section explains how these theoretical frameworks shape the understanding of HRM as a system involving performance outcomes, HR practices, behavioural impacts, contingencies and organisational context, giving you deeper insight into why different HR strategies succeed or fail.

Another learning area focuses on the defining characteristics of HRM and the diversity of HRM practices across workplaces. This section explains the strategic, commitment-oriented nature of HRM, the shift toward mutuality-based models, and the way HRM integrates unitary and pluralist perspectives on employee relations to enhance organisational performance and employee engagement.

A further learning area investigates the concept of treating people as assets or human capital and how HRM contributes to business value. This section describes how HRM balances organisation-centred and employee-centred dimensions, addresses HRM as an interconnected system and positions people as critical contributors to productivity, growth and competitive strength.

Another learning area explores the development and origins of the HRM concept, including the matching model of HRM and the Harvard framework. This section highlights historical progressions, conceptual debates and reservations about HRM, addressing concerns about over-promising, ethical dilemmas and contradictions that challenge the practical delivery of HRM philosophies.

The next learning area examines the context of HRM and the HRM contingency theory. This section explains how external and internal contextual factors—such as legislation, labour markets, organisational strategy, workforce demographics, technology and culture—influence HR policies and practices, and why HR professionals must adapt their approach to situational demands.

A final learning area addresses the ethical dimension of HRM and its relevance to everyday practice. This section explores ethical reasoning, fairness, organisational responsibility and the potential moral tensions in HR decision-making, preparing you to balance organisational goals with employee wellbeing, equity and professional integrity when implementing HR strategies.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand the foundations, theories and strategic applications of HRM, evaluate how contextual factors shape HR practice, identify ethical considerations in decision-making and apply modern HR approaches that strengthen organisational performance, capability and workplace culture.

Practical and elegant grinder for daily use
Color: Silver single
I bought this manual salt and pepper grinder and in general I thought it was a very good option for the kitchen. The design is elegant and the glass body allows you to easily see when it is time to refill it. In addition, the stainless steel lid helps keep the spices fresh and prevents residues from falling on the table. The ceramic blades grind both coarse salt and pepper well, and I liked that the thickness can be adjusted according to what you need, from a fine grind to a thicker one. It is also easy to recharge and clean. After several uses it works properly and feels resistant for daily use.

Hand size mighty grinder
Color: Silver single
Hi- I think this is a good grinder although to this point I ground about 2/3 of the glass chamber full of a good quality peppercorn. I like a coarse grind and this device gives that grind consistently. I like the cover and it's fit. The overall look is pleasing and think it's a good bang for the buck. It's easy to use and adjusts to your personal needs or wants. If your debating this device and am worried if you'll get years of use I know I don't force it but rather learn to allow the tool to do the work. I think it will last me for quite a while and even if I have to replace it once a year it's a well built unit that you can enjoy using. If you have arthritic hands and use this for hard products like fresh peppercorns or coarse Himalayan salt then treat yourself to a good rechargeable grinder (or better yet ask your children to get you one for all the great meals you make for them & have made for them !) Thanks for the read. I hope this helps. Greybeard

At Last! A Grinder That Can Grind Flaxseed!!!
Color: Silver single
I'm so excited -- my search for a manual flaxseed grinder is over! After spending countless hours -- nay, days & weeks! -- searching for a simple, manual spice grinder that worked well for flaxseeds, I found this little $7 gem! Just got it today & immediately tested it out... with GREAT results! At first I was disappointed to see that the grinding mechanism is plastic, but it sure did the job! It has a little dial to adjust the coarseness, which is nice. Also love that the container is glass; and larger than I thought. Easy to refill & I expect it'll be easy to clean. I think the ease of grinding will depend on how tightly or loosely you adjust the dial; at its tightest, I couldn't twist it at all, but loosening it allowed me to use it easily and it still gave me a fine grind. Highly recommend it... can't beat the value!

Pepper grinder works as expected, I'm concerned about its long-term durability.
Color: Silver single
Good product, grounds pepper as expected. I was almost surprised that the grinder is plastic rather than metal. I'm not sure of its long-term durability
