Spyderco Squeak Folding Knife

Produced in Maniago, the Squeak SLIP is a Spyderco non-locking one-hand open, clip carry folder called a SLIP. It's designed for legally-restricted carry in locales where locking folders are prohibited. The blade is ground full-flat and made from Austrian Bohler-Uddeholm's N690Co steel. N690C0 is high-carbon steel with added cobalt for structural uniformity resulting in enhanced edge retention and sharpening receptivity. Textured jimping is machined from the blade's spine and choil for increased slip resistance. The Squeak's blade is held in the open position when cutting by a notched-joint at the knife's pivot. When closing the blade, the notch generates resistance functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknife and performs the additional function of smoothing the motion of the blade opening. Increasing control and comfort Spyderco designers add a deep finger choil, naturally jogging the index finger into a position on the underside of the blade directly below the thumb. Positioning the index finger in this choil blocks the blade from accidental closing when cutting and provides a grip position that allows the user to choke-up closer to the cutting edge for greater dexterity. The handle is FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) and engineered for user comfort whether in the hand, with ergonomic handle texturing, or in the pocket with a reversible tip-up deep-pocket wire clip. Spyderco is very proud to support Guardians of the Ribbon/Pink Heals Tour and the "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" programs by donating a portion of the sales of our pink-handled knives. Founded in 2007 by retired firefighter Dave Graybill, this amazing charity focuses on providing direct care to women battling all forms of cancer. The Pink Heals Movement, best known for its fleet of pink fire trucks and police cars, tours the U.S. visiting women and children cancer patients, determining their most critical needs, and coordinating local resources to meet those needs. Pink Heals also recruits the support of tax-based services and community leaders to ensure continued support of women battling cancer by the donations staying local to the community it was raised in. Most importantly, Pink Heals applies 100% of all the donations they receive to direct care for the women it serves, providing immediate, tangible support to those who need it most. All the charity’s operating expenses are paid for by sales of pink shirts bearing their organizational logo. These shirts are also the foundation of the "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign—a national campaign intended to increase the focus on women as one of the world’s most precious resources.

A bit repetitive
Format: Paperback
The Family Systems approach makes a great deal of sense and is very helpful. But this book seems to be somewhat formulaic - every case looks the same.

Extremely enlightening!
Format: Paperback
A psychologist recommended I read this book as my daughter and I were having issues. Wow! What you'll find in this book will change your whole thinking about relationships with family members. Very enlightening as to why we all behave as we do and what affect our behavior has on the development of our children. A MUST read for every parent. I bought a copy for each of our children and grandchildren to read.

Some good advice
Format: Paperback
Roberta Gilbert's "Extraordinary Relationships" offers useful advice for dealing with family relationships couched amidst an examination of systems theory. Although it is more technical than a lot of self help, it can be used by a general audience. Gilbert examines the theory of Murray Bowen, who countered notions of individual psychology (like those of Freud) with the theory that personality develops as a result of a family unit. The nuclear family, like a herd of amimals, reacts against each other, speaking a common language that is known only to them. Children raised in that family then detach from the family to form their own adult relationships, where dynamics may follow the family system. In order to heal adult problems, the author offers some practical advice, like taking the time to observe old patterns as they crop up (family Christmas fights come to mind) with the dispassionate mind of an observer. The author states that individuals will better be able to understand family dynamics and their role in them by doing this. I've read this book twice, and it has helped me better understand my family, and my role within it. I would recommend it for those who are seeking to better understand their family of origin, and what they can do to improve their present life through understanding the past.
