Orpiment is a deep colored, orange yellow arsenic sulfide mineral found in volcanic fumaroles, low temperature hydrothermal veins, and hot springs and is formed both by sublimation and as a byproduct of the decay of another arsenic mineral, Realgar. Orpiment takes its name from the Latin auripigmentum (aurum, "gold" + pigmentum, "pigment") because of its deep yellow color.

- Orpiment was traded in the Roman Empire and was used as a medicine in China, even though it is very toxic. It has been used as fly poison and to tip arrows with poison. Because of its striking color, it was of interest to alchemists, both in China and the West, searching for a way to make gold. It also has been found in the wall decorations of Tutankhamun's tomb and ancient Egyptian scrolls, and on the walls of the Taj Mahal.
- For centuries, orpiment was ground down and used as a pigment in painting and for sealing wax, and was even used in ancient China as a correction fluid. It was one of the few clear, bright-yellow pigments available to artists until the 19th century. However, its extreme toxicity and incompatibility with other common pigments, including lead and copper-based substances such as verdigris and azurite, meant that its use as a pigment ended when cadmium yellows, chromium yellows and organic dye-based colors were introduced during the 19th century.

Sized Up, Still great!
My son typically requires a 3x TALL, so I sized up one (4x) but had it gone to a 5x that might have been even better. For reference he is 6 foot tall, 300 lbs, and very broad shouldered (think lineman 🤣) However, the quality and print were so great! He opted for a chain instead of the bowtie because he did a bow tie last year, but that was decent as well. For the price, this is a GREAT buy.

Fits great and looks amazing

Quality & fit (medium for tall slim build)

Ordered for prom instead of paying $250 to rent nearly the exact same suit at a local store. I ordered a Medium after the Large was too boxy on my son (6'1", 145lbs). Medium was perfect fit. Great Quality

My son gave a one day notice that he was attending the prom so I frantically searched for something nice to wear. I did not know what size to get because his measurements do not match the measurements provided by the seller. He is 5’6” and weighs 154. He has a thicker build. After reading several reviews my husband and I decided on size small, however, Amazon told me I should get size medium. I should have chosen size small because this medium is a little too big by probably an inch and a half in both the front and back. We did not have time to alter the jacket, but fortunately, it still fit well.
I am so grateful for Amazon Prime overnight shipping. I also bought his shirt, tie, shoes, and mask from Amazon. The jacket arrived folded in a little zip bag. I was surprised that it wasn’t wrinkled; it only had a few creases that needed to be ironed/steamed out. The jacket is excellent quality and looks the same as the advertised photos. I am very pleased with this last minute desperate purchase!
