The Black Box by Wayne Dobson in association with Alan WongFor years I have been working on developing a switch that was plausible and effective, creating a gimmick to replace the pocket switch.
Recently I came up with this switch device. It takes the pain out of the switch, and lends itself to the multitude of effects that rely on a deck switch.
This utility device harks back to one of the big magical influences on me. It was in my early performing days, in 1977, when I had the pleasure of watching first hand Fred Kaps's charming performance of Scotty York's ingenious Razor Card routine. Ken Brooke was desperately keen to put this on the market, but Kaps was determined to keep it for himself, such did he prize the effect.
This delightful routine has seldom been seen over all those decades since, primarily because it depended on a pocket deck switch - although I did perform it on TV a couple of times.
Alongside my take on the Razor Card routine, I also developed two other strong routines that rely on The Black Box. One was inspired by Dean Dill's splendid Blizzard, a rather different effect that relied upon a singular switching device; suffice to say that it has now become my favorite application of The Black Box! Another is a version of an effect I previously published, which has been enhanced by the use of The Black Box.
Thanks to Alan Wong's fine craftsmanship and Bob Gill's beautifully-written instructions, the final product is one we are proud to present.

Great addition to our home
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Putting together took a little time but instructions included were easy for me to follow. Putting the screws in for the shelves required a little work to get then started but nothing that I would say would be a problem to do. It is very sturdy and looks great in our room we are transforming into a hangout/bar area. I can't wait to get all my accessories in to add to it and display all my nice bottles I have. Great cart for the price.

My Cart Worked Out Perfectly For Me - Update: I got a second cart
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Delivered sooner than promised. All pieces were present. All parts were in good condition. Assembly was done by a professional who thought the product was well done and needed very few adjustments. The cart rolls smoothly, is very sturdy, is a great size, looks attractive and is perfect for my needs. I would order one of these again.
Update: I did get a second cart and I am just as happy with this second one as I have been with the first one.

Notice it is not real wood!
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Easy to put together.
The biggest complaint is it is not real wood. It looks like it is covered with contact paper!

Great addition to our kitchen. For something we walk by every day it was worth it to get a good quality one like this. Super well made and beautiful wood color in person.

Looks expensive. Wheels could be better.
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
This got RAVE reviews when I wheeled it into a neighbor’s Thanksgiving celebration. The guests thought it was WAY more expensive than I paid. That said, the wheels aren’t all that great; the cart got stuck going into and out of the elevator. I had to lift the cart to get it over the track. But overall, I really like it. One caution. Read the instructions carefully so that the wine racks fit. I didn’t assemble it correctly, and it became apparent when the wine racks would not fit. But I was able to quickly disassemble the necessary sections, and reassemble them quickly.
