COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Strategic Human Resource Management course. This program will equip you with the knowledge and insight required to understand HRM as a strategic discipline, integrate people-management decisions with organisational strategy, and strengthen long-term performance through evidence-based HR practices. You will explore how HRM contributes to competitive advantage, how strategic alignment is created, and how HR systems can be designed to support organisational capability, innovation and sustainability.

This course begins by examining the meaning of strategic human resource management, the conceptual basis of strategic HRM, and the fundamental characteristics of strategy. You will explore the concept of strategy, how corporate strategy is formulated, and why a realistic, context-driven view of strategy is essential for effective HR planning. This section explains the aims of strategic HRM and how HR contributes to organisational direction.

A core learning area introduces the resource-based view (RBV) of strategic HRM. You will analyse the implications of the RBV, the significance of the resource-based view, and the components of HRM that constitute a strategic resource for the firm. This section explores the resources covered by the RBV and explains how HR practices shape capability development, employee performance and long-term organisational value.

A further learning area focuses on strategic fit, exploring how HRM aligns with organisational strategies and external conditions. You will examine key perspectives on strategic HRM, the concepts of best practice and best fit, and how these approaches influence HR system design. This section also considers the problems associated with the best-practice model, the lifecycle best-fit model, and the relationship between best fit and competitive strategies.

Another learning area examines role behaviours appropriate for different strategies and the idea of strategic configuration. You will analyse how role expectations differ across organisational strategies, why configuration matters for HRM effectiveness, and what critiques exist regarding the concept of best fit. This section also introduces the bundling approach and the significance of bundling HR practices into coherent, mutually reinforcing systems.

A further learning area addresses the reality of strategic HRM in practice. You will explore the gaps between theory and organisational conditions, the practical implications of strategic HRM theory, and how HR professionals can translate strategic principles into operational decisions. This section highlights the significant features of strategic HRM and how they influence organisational performance, adaptability and long-term success.

By the end of this course you will understand how HRM functions as a strategic system, how to align HR practices with organisational strategy, how to apply resource-based and best-fit principles, how to design integrated HR bundles, and how to use strategic HRM frameworks to strengthen organisational capability and competitive advantage.

Still Usefil for a Samsung S24 Ultra User
Color: Black
The Charging Pad: The pad is super flat (nearly the same thickness as the pad) and looks nice next to it or a similar mouse and keyboard pad. It works perfectly for my Samsung S24 Ultra without a case on it, but having a 'magsafe' style case would improve the experience. You do have to take a second to get the alignment right. It uses USB-C instead of cheaping out with a micro, and the status light is helpful. I don't think I own anything that can charge in the headphone area, and in case you're wondering, neither spot will charge a Samsung smartwatch (as expected). I'd nearly recommend this just for the charging pad since it's so unobtrusive on the desk. Just remember you'll need to route that wire out of the top of it somewhere. The mouse pad: The size is probably perfect for a typical keyboard and mouse user. I always have a 3D mouse on the left, and an extra long Coursair keyboard, so I prefer having a gigantic mat for all of that. But there is one feature of this mouse pad that I like more than most. The material doesn't attract every spec of dirt and hair in the universe, and it's easy to wipe off. Because of this, I use the pad under my 3D mouse and keyboard, with a larger full-desk pad underneath (including the mouse area). The felt material on the back keeps this locked to my desk, and unlike a rubberized pad, isn't going to turn into glue after a few years. I did test my mouse on the pad, and it feels fairly good. It's not too smooth, and is a bit easier on your hand, but very serious gamers may take some time to adjust.

Smaller and more expensive than artisian deskmats
Color: Black
These are slightly smaller than the standard artisan deskmats and double the price.. It's also about half the thickness, so there's not as much padding. This isn't a huge deal. if the felt is on the bottom, it doesn't grip to the desk very well. The wireless charger is okay, but I found it bulky. Having a small dedicated 3 in 1 charging stand was more convenient for me. If you have a heaver mechanical keyboard, you won't be able to lift this thing to see underneath it. Overall, this is an okay deskmat and it'll serve it's purpose when I'm washing my regular deskmat, but not my favorite.

Well crafted and easy to assemble, decorative and useful piece.
Color: Bronze
This ring/jewelry holder is a little bigger than I expected it to be, and definitely is more suitable to a nightstand or dresser than on a bathroom vanity. That being said, the construction is very sturdy and it can easily hold a lot of jewelry. This is a great gift for a jewelry collector who already has a ton of jewelry and needs an innovative way to store and display it. There are a ton of branches on the tree, and each can easily fit 4-7 rings or necklaces.
