It has been recorded flying above 7,000 metres, with anecdotal sightings near the summit of Everest itself.
❃ Outside of its extraordinary commute, the bar-headed goose lives a comparatively peaceful life — grazing in flocks along high-altitude lakes in Mongolia, Tibet, and Kyrgyzstan during summer, before descending to spend the winter in the warmer plains of India and Pakistan.
